Get a PADI Professional Qualification, dive in the Pacific Ocean neighbouring the Galapagos Islands, have up to 80 hours of Spanish lessons, explore pristine beaches, swim in beautiful crystal clear waters and see an amazing spectrum of marine life that includes sea turtles, manta rays, morays and maybe even whales if you are lucky! If you have scuba diving qualifications already then don’t worry we have a modified course to suit your needs and save lots of money!
Ecuador is a country filled with spectacularly beautiful scenery, rich tapestry of dramatically different landscapes and includes the Galapagos Islands to its west. One of only eighteen megadiverse countries in the world, Ecuador harbours a vast spectrum of flora and fauna that includes endemic species, such as those found in Galapagos.
Your home for the duration of the PADI Divemaster and Spanish adventure will be the town Montanita – a small village on Ecuador’s Pacific Coast. With its stunning beaches and glorious scenery, Montanita is truly a magnificent place to learn to dive! In this paradise you will live in lovely thatched cabanas (thatched rooms) in a quiet location, which are just a few minutes walk from the beach, town, diving centre and Spanish school. We will learn to scuba dive in the Pacific waters of this relatively undiscovered diving paradise, whilst experiencing the vibrant culture and beautiful scenery of Ecuador. Our scuba diving adventure will take us swimming amid a startling array of marine life, including sea turtles, clown fish, manta rays and maybe even whales to earn our qualification as a ‘Divemaster’. If you have some of the dive qualifications already then don't worry you can do alternative activities instead (see 'full trip itinerary' for more information).
You will begin your learn Spanish and scuba dive adventure by learning the PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water diving qualifications in the form of lectures, skills exercises, and qualifying dives that will cover a variety of topics including how to set up equipment, carry out safety procedures, buoyancy control and diving safely. Learning how to dive responsibly will see you gaining the Rescue Diver qualification, which involves learning a variety of lifesaving skills on the surface and under the water. During the first five weeks you will also learn Spanish for a total of eighty hours, which will be fitted around the diving, with learning that is designed to be interactive and spontaneous. Rather than restricting you to a classroom, the lessons are normally held in the open air, on balconies overlooking the sea, on the beach, in the cafes, and just about anywhere else that you fancy. This way, you get to see spectacular scenery and mix with the local people of Montanita, all while you learn a new language.
With these scuba diving under your diving belts and speaking Spanish, the final three weeks of learning commence to gain the crème de la crème of diving qualifications, the PADI Divemaster course. Days will be long and often hard work, but the resulting satisfaction of gaining a Divemaster qualification in some of the most beautiful dive spots in the world will make all the hard graft all the more worthwhile! When we are not diving then we will have the opportunity to hire surf boards from the Spanish school, get a few surfing lessons or maybe even relax with some Yoga! For those of you that want to extend your stay then why not celebrate your new qualifications with an eight day trip to the Galapagos Islands.
