We have a vacancy for a chef in our piste side chalet hotel in San Cassiano, Alta Badia, Italy (Dolomites). 

Working in Albergo Frohsinn you will report to the resort manager and will work closely with the resort manager and housekeeper to run a small team of chalet staff to help you prepare breakfast and cakes for afternoon tea daily, and a good quality, set menu 3 course meal 6 evenings a week. 

You will socialise and ski with guests where appropriate as we have a very informal, comfortable atmosphere.  Therefore you will be enthusiastic, confident and sociable and have an ability to keep morale high and motivate a team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the smooth running of the kitchen.
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • Maintaining standards and procedures for food storage.
  • Ordering and working within set budgets.
  • Supervising and organising a small team of chalet staff (not qualified in catering).
  • Preparing and cooking (with help of team) all meals for our guests.
Albergo Frohsinn has 17 rooms and can sleep 32+ (many rooms are family rooms sleeping up to 4).  On a usual service you would be catering for between 20-40.  On weeks where children are in the house an earlier “kids tea” is served. Requirements: 
  • Experience/proven ability in the catering industry – with references available.
  • Ability to deliver a good quality, well presented 3 course set menu dinner for up to 40 people.
  • You need to be comfortable supervising a small team, inexperienced in catering.
  • Some kitchen management or supervisory experience preferred (but not essential).
  • If you are able to speak German or Italian this would be helpful (but not essential).
