Powder White are currently looking for strong cooks for a handful of Chalet Host positions, to run their chalets in France, Switzerland and Austria.
The position of Chalet Host offers a really rewarding and fulfilling way in which to spend 5 months in the snow. It is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and hold a position of real responsibility which will set you up with superb experience which is adaptable to so many future roles.
Whilst completing a cookery course is likely to improve your application with Powder White, what is more important to us is your ability to work as part of a team, act on your own initiative and prove an excellent work experience record both in and out of catering. We feel it essential that a strong understanding of hard work is an absolute necessity; therefore if you are just leaving school or University, we will be looking for you to complete a prolonged period of relevant employment between now and the start of the season. We ask you to please be understanding and accepting in this respect - we are currently experiencing a huge demand for the very few jobs we have available therefore it is unlikely that a short or basic cookery course alone will be enough to secure a role with us.
What the Position involves:
- Ensuring that our guests benefit from the highest possible service with a 'Nothing is too much trouble' ethic
- Preparing cooked & continental breakfasts, afternoon teas, pre-dinner canapés and four course dinner
- Keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and compliable with hygiene regulations
- Laying the tables to the Powder White standard for breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner
- Oversee & take overall responsibility for the cleanliness of your chalet
- Involvement in full chalet changeover on arrivals/departures day
- Shopping, managing your own shopping/ordering list and carrying out weekly stock-takes. Budgeting and controlling chalet float completing weekly accounts returns
- Maintaining sufficient stocks of dried goods, bathroom accessories, cleaning materials and selection of wines
- Booking restaurants and taking responsibility for smooth delivery of guest ski passes, helping with ski hire and tuition.
Successful applicants will need to have a personable and outgoing personality, ability to act under pressure and keep a clear head, be a good team player, have excellent guest relations and interpersonal skills, be pro-active, professional and flexible.
EU passport and UK National Insurance number essential.
Other requirements: Cookery qualification or proof of professional cooking experience / Excellent relevant work experience both in and out of the catering sector / Proof of ongoing employment relevant to this type of role.
