Summer Leap (combo of safari, community and conservation)
The Leap Overseas Ltd
This vacancy is no longer live on Season Workers, here are some similar vacancies to this one that are currently live:
Join a team of Summer Leapers to experience and implement 3 different types of volunteer projects in the one trip - community, conservation and eco tourism which we call the ‘3 leaps’.
Rather than committing to a single task for your entire stay e.g. teaching the same class for 6 weeks or spending every day of your trip in the back of a jeep counting antelope, our summer Leapers take part in a series of different small-scale, achievable projects that really make an impact and are very rewarding.
By trying your hand at these different projects you will be challenged and stimulated in lots of different ways, ensuring that you maintain your enthusiasm. You will develop loads of new skills that will benefit you in the years to come and may even discover talents and passions you never knew you had!
What types of things will you do?
Leap 1- Safari camp/eco-tourism projects:
Escort guests on safari
Help rangers track indigenous wildlife
Horse ride amongst Africa's wild game
Create guide trails through the Amazon Rainforest
Leap 2 – Conservation
Rehabilitate injured game in Africa
Release endangered species back into the Costa Rican rain forest
Remove snares from the bush
Help stop poaching in a private game reserve
Help protect the Ecuadorian Amazon Jungle
Leap 3 – Community
Teach English and art to remote communities
Refurbish medical dispensaries and classrooms
Teach young children about basic hygiene
Play sport with orphaned children
Build fresh water systems in villages
Unrivalled Variety
On a Summer Leap, no two days are the same. For example, one week you could be teaching indigenous kids, the next you’d be thatching people’s homes and putting in irrigation systems before heading out to the bush to study elephants or dolphins, all topped off with organizing a local football league or putting together a drama performance to educate villagers about AIDS or Malaria.
Remember variety is the Spice of life!
