Teaching English and Childcare in Swaziland

Global Vision International

Volunteers joining this project will be based in central Swaziland and will have the option of working on child care projects or teaching at local primary schools.

Those participating on the child care projects will be working at local care centres, which provide orphans and vulnerable children with food, care and education. Volunteers will teach the children simple English, maths and life skills; arrange games, activities and outings; provide care and support and assist on construction/improvement projects at the centres. Other volunteers may prefer to teach at the local primary schools. These are often over-crowded and under-resourced and are therefore in need of support. Volunteers will help to teach children English and an assortment of other subjects to help improve the children’s future employment prospects.

Swaziland is a small, landlocked country in Southern Africa, bordered by South Africa and Mozambique. Volunteers will be based in Lobamba, in the Ezulwini Valley. Lobamba is located in the west of the country about 16 km from the capital, Mbabane.
