BUNAC

BUNAC’s Volunteer Ghana programme places enthusiastic participants in community-based projects in rural and urban Ghana. If you are looking to experience life in a developing country Ghana is a great place to start, as it’s renowned for being one of the friendliest countries in West Africa.

You’ll travel to Ghana on a group flight and on arrival in the capital, Accra, you’ll spend five days taking part in a worthwhile and enjoyable arrival orientation. Once you have completed the orientation you’ll move on to your placement for either 2 or 3 months.

Placements are developed according to your own experience, skills and interests. Past participants have previously been placed in rural communities assisting with teaching at local primary or secondary schools; working on HIV/Aids education projects; working on family planning projects; and helping to improve levels of sanitation within communities.

You’ll be placed in the same town or village as other volunteers; however, you’ll more than likely be working on different placements. The weekends provide an opportunity for volunteers to meet up and explore Ghana, and many people take time at the end of their project to travel with the new friends that they’ve made.

Programme costs are £679 or £749 for 2 or 3 months respectively and include full pre-departure advice and support, a five day arrival orientation (including tours and accommodation), accommodation and placement costs for the duration of the programme (including meals) and 24/7 support from BUNAC’s local partner organisation for the duration of your stay.
