If you love playing football and are interested in sport development, a coaching placement is the perfect project for you! The kids you will coach have an amazing passion for the game and working with them is very rewarding. This is your chance to become a coach and a friend to 8-16 year olds who are always enthusiastic, often very talented and for whom football is a big part of life.
Your focus will be having fun with these kids. Most come from poor backgrounds, which means that what you bring to them in friendship, coaching and life advice will have an impact on them and their community in a way you will always remember – and so will they!
Whatever your background or skill-level, be assured that you have something positive and unique to offer the children and projects you work on.
Football / Soccer Coaching in San José, Costa Rica
You will be working with Schools and Clubs in the vibrant capital city of San José, running training sessions, matches and even tournaments. Your placement will be focused on having fun and giving the children an opportunity to learn about football, do some exercise and play as part of a team. You will undoubtedly discover an abundance of passion and enthusiasm as well as some hidden talent! This placement is an excellent time to share your skills and knowledge with children who are desperate to play the beautiful game.
Football / Soccer Coaching in Accra, Ghana
Football is the number one sport in Ghana and borders on religion for the majority of its population. We have an excellent relationship with a number of local youth clubs in the capital, Accra, where the rewards are great because you have the chance to develop raw talent into skilled team players. As a footballer wanting to enjoy the game you love with young players, or as a coach looking to gain experience in top sides, this is an excellent opportunity go get involved in grass-roots football overseas.
Football / Soccer Coaching at a Leading Academy in Ghana
This placement is based in the mountains near the capital city, Accra, in an academy which hosts over 50 players, all of whom have been awarded scholarships to receive top-level training and education. As a coach, you will be able to implement your own ideas to improve the current training methods while living at the academy. If you have an interest in football development, particularly within Africa, this is a truly unique and rewarding project.
Football / Soccer Coaching in Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Having been awarded host of the 2010 World Cup (the first African nation to do so), the love for football in South Africa could not be greater, and nowhere more so than in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth. Your placement will involve working with children from less-advantaged backgrounds and building friendships over a common ground. Through helping to organise and run training sessions, matches and tournaments in the townships and schools that skirt the city, you will make a positive impact on young people in South Africa.
In Costa Rica, Ghana and South Africa you will also have the opportunity to play football with other volunteers against local clubs - a fantastic cultural exchange!
