Killary Adventure Co. in Co. Galway, Ireland will be running the second of its 6 month Instructor training course beginning on 27th October 2010.
The course is for people who want to gain skills in outdoor activities and outdoor education. By participating you will kick start your career as an outdoor instructor and gain a broad base of technical outdoor skills, leading to nationally recognised qualifications.
Whether on a gap year searching for an outdoors job, thinking about a complete change in career, looking to start a career or just wanting to have some fun in the outdoors whilst working with others then this is the instructor training course to get it all started.
You will receive training in the following;
- Mountain skills
- Kayaking
- Rock climbing and abseiling
- Competent crew member on our 49ft racing yacht
- Powerboat
- Rescue and Emergency Care 2
- Career planning advice
- Soft skills
- Group processing skills
Also included
- Food and accomadation 7 days a week for the duration of the course
- Two week intense rock climbing expedition to the costa blanca, Spain
- Domestic expeditions to the Burren and Donegal
- 4 weeks work experience
- 2 weeks christmas break
The Killary Adventure Co. has the most dynamic and adventurous range of activities of any centre in Ireland and we will make full use of these and the wilderness areas surrounding our base.
The course is run on 5 days a week with most weekends free – this is usually a great time for participants to both socialise with fellow members and integrate into our great local community but – the Centre is awash with adventurous and enthusiastic staff and you will always be able to find someone who wants to either Wakeboard, Water Ski, Rock Climb, Mountain Bike in fact the list is almost endless!
In today's world of outdoor adventurous activities there is a high demand for well qualified, motivated and dedicated instructors, on the freelance market, within centres and worldwide. They are required to work with a variety of clients of all ages in a range of outdoor pursuits. We endeavour to provide you with the hard and soft skills to work with groups and become a professional outdoor instructor.
We’ve over a month left of last years course and we are already taking bookings for next year. It’s been a fun filled 6 months with 100% pass rate on all assessments so far and already over 50% of the course have lined up employment in the industry on completion of the course.
