Work a winter season in Meribel

Meribel is a fabulous place to work a season. It is positioned right in the centre of the 3 Valleys (Which actually have a 4th now linked to Val Thorens). This means that you can ski any of the resorts almost as easy as Meribel itself. If your job only gets you a Meribel valley pass (which is a great area on it's own) you can buy a daily extension to explore the other valleys. (?19 for over 600km of piste). In all 3 valleys you will find all the skiing/snowboarding variations possible. Fabulous long cruising pistes, great off-piste, couloirs, & Mogul Fields. Excellent snowparks can be found in Courchevel & Les Menuires plus 2 in the Meribel Valley itself.

Total beginners do not even need a ski pass. The Altiport area at Meribel has a free draglift and they often don't bother checking your pass for the long chairlift there either. (But don't count on it)

Meribel bars, pubs and clubs
Apres-ski for the workers means "The Ronnie". The Rond point is THE place to meet with the best bands in the Alps playing every afternoon. See Andy or Justin for special seasonaires discounts. LDV at Meribel Village is also a favourite for workers, especially Thursdays when Shibboleth play.

For lively nightlife it's "The Pub" with live bands, and Dicks Tea Bar later for Party animals. Get your season pass (very cheap) for Dicks as soon as you arrive in resort, as there is a time limit. Up in Mottaret the best bar is Le Rastro especially on Tuesdays when it holds it's famous "Rock Party". Get in early if you want a table to dance on! See Ralph (The boss) at the bar. He always treats regular seasonaires well.

...and Finally
Finally, everything is expensive here. The shop/bar owners pay lots of rent to the local landowners for a very short season so they are not really totally at fault for the high prices. Remember that at the end of season you can get real bargains (30%-50% discounts), and if you can get to "Decathalon", a superstore in Albertville you can save loadsamoney on sports gear any time Dec-April. Also the supermarket prices in Moutiers are about 30% less than Meribel.
