Love, love, love Lapland. I see it as a once in a lifetime experience. I spent the first couple of weeks walking around in awe and with the biggest grin on my face because it is such a very special place.
I loved that it was dark a lot at the beginning. It is not dark in a grey, damp, UK way, it is dark because the sun and its light just can't reach that far. It was bizarre and fun.
I loved that my eyelashes froze when it got really cold.
I loved the Northern lights (before we went I stupidly said 'Its just green stuff in the sky!!') They are amazing and random and different every time, we saw them lots during our time there - some people will never see them in their lifetime.
The Skiing is completely different to France, the resort is a lot smaller but it is heaven. The slopes were almost always quiet, the conditions were always great, and there are little huts on the side of the pistes with campfires so you can have a nice warm and cook sausages for lunch!
The other activities that you can do don’t exist in other European resorts and all of them are fabulous - husky mushing, reindeer sleigh ride, ice hotel, snow mobile tour, ice karting and more!!
