Four Season’s magazine have been sampling the apres-ski which is on offer throughout the world, including North America, Europe and South America. The verdict? Well they have managed to narrow it down to three top resorts; Vail, Zermatt and Portillo.
Vail
The article describes Vail as ‘America’s largest single mountain resort’ with an excellent apres-ski system. The locals spend their time at the most popular apres-ski bar known as ‘Los Amigos’ which has a truly breathtaking view of the black diamond run ‘Pepi’s Face’ The resort also sports a great ice skating rink and a new cinema complex known as ‘CineBistro’ which serves cocktails and calamari.
Zermatt
Zermatt is possibly one of the most scenic resorts in the business with it’s tremendous views of the Matterhorn the resort is a must see. The apres-ski scene may be expensive but the raclette and fondue cannot be missed. The resort is also strapped with some fancy clubs like the Pink Elephant Jazza and Piano bar and also some more rugged clubs like Moby Dick’s Dancing Pub.
Portillo
Is described as having one of the most perfect ski-bar restaurants known as ‘Tio Bob’s’ which is located smack bang in the middle of the ski slopes. Said to have a constant flow of cold beer and an open barbecue which produces some awesome Argentinian sausages which are to die for. This bar/restaurant is described in the article as what makes up the resort and gives it it’s fabulous reputation as an apres-ski haven!
