Ski resort season lets in the Alps & worldwide
There are lots of companies that will rent you an apartment or chalet for the whole
season in a ski resort (costs around £2,000 per person). If you have a couple
of grand to spend you can negate the usual hassle of trying to find work and accommodation
at the same time.
This might fill your head with cramped apartments full of sweaty boots, improvised
ash trays and a kitchen full of washing up but it need not be like that. Some specialist
organisations rent out big spacious chalets at a fair price for the whole season
and many people go each year to spend a few months on the slopes. Lets face it,
given the opportunity, who wouldn't? Some companies will also arrange extras for
you while you are there. Seasonal guests with Seasonit for example benefit from
their local knowledge of avalanche courses and and ski / snowboard instructor courses.
Costs, and ideas while you're there
If you are stretching to afford it, there are ways to save a few quid. One of them
is to do the odd bit of transfer repping for a tour operator (going with a coach
and sheperding holiday makers back from, and to the airports). Another way is to
try and get any job you can with the ski resort and get a free lift pass. In Whistler
you can get a free lift pass for being a part time volunteer.
