Job Details

Head Chef - join the team at our children's residential activity holiday centre!

Our young guests spend their days sailing, kayaking and windsurfing, building up a healthy appetite!

We're looking for a confident, experienced Chef with previous staff management experience to oversee the catering operation at our La Fosca activity holiday centre situated on the Costa Brava with a sandy beach only a 5 minutes walk away.

As a BCU approved and RYA recognised teaching centre, PGL La Fosca is a refreshing place to work; each week, visiting school groups arrive to try taster sessions in a variety of outdoor adventure activities during the day time and on-site entertainment provided by our staff team in the evenings. Meal times form an important aspect of our guest experience and we're looking for someone to head up our enthusiastic team of Catering Assistants and Chefs to ensure our catering provision exceeds our guests' expectations.

At the height of the season, the centre accommodates a maximum of 200 guests and 55 staff members each meal time. The restaurant follows a large-scale canteen style operation, preparing a hearty, wholesome selection of dishes cooked with as many fresh ingredients as we can provide.

In addition to overseeing and assisting with meal preparation and menu plans, the training, development and management of your team of Catering Assistants forms a significant aspect of the role. Full support and training will be provided for this from our Head Office team.

This is a seasonal position, based on a fixed-term contract from July until September, with the potential to return in 2010 for the following season. We offer a competitive wage package, the potential for real career development and access to training opportunities. On-site accommodation and meals are available free of charge and transport to the centre is provided.

For more information about this role, please contact Emma Hicks in the Recruitment Team for a chat or follow the links below to find out about applying.

Due to the nature of this role, working in close proximity to young people, the successful applicant will be required to obtain enhanced disclosure clearance from the Criminal Records Bureau which PGL will obtain and pay for.

You must have the legal right to live and work in the UK to be considered for this role.

PGL is committed to the principle of equal opportunities.
