Job Details

Main duties / responsibilities

  • To ensure students enjoy their stay as safely as possible and that they are being looked after at all times
  • To allocate students to rooms on arrival and being the main contact for all welfare issues such as students who are unwell and students missing home
  • To meet and greet students upon arrival and show them their accommodation
  • To oversee site tours, welcome and orientation procedures for new students and staff in liaison with the Centre Manager
  • To implement the guardian system to ensure all students are adequately cared for during their stay as well as providing pastoral care
  • To ensure that fire and safety procedures are known and followed throughout the summer
  • To keep accurate rooming lists, reports and damages and deal with any complaints/problems relating to accommodation
  • To attend weekly meetings with college staff to discuss rooming, cleaning and laundry service
  • To carry out daily room and damage checks of all student accommodation
  • To carry out the 24hr emergency duties on a rota basis
  • To carry out residential duties, including meal, bedtime and night time supervision duties

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Previous experience of residential work
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • An approachable and caring nature
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Flexibility with regard to working hours

Ideally you will have:

  • Previous knowledge of summer schools
  • Experience of dealing with continuous enrolment
  • Previous experience of working with minors

Remuneration depends on the size of the centre and the experience of the applicant

The post is residential (full board accommodation is included)

Your pay is broken down as Basic Pay + Holiday Pay which will be payable at the end of your employment.

Staff will accrue prorated annual holidays with pay at the rate of 5.6 weeks per annum. Unless there are special circumstances agreed during the interview, this holiday can only be taken at the end of the contract and staff will be paid for untaken holidays at the end of their employment.
