Madame Vacances is a French tourism and property management company based in Chambery, a town at the foothills of the French Alps. Established in 1991, the company is expanding rapidly and currently manages 76 hotels and holiday residences in France + 16 hotels in Spain. It has become a major player in the European tourism sector.
As a young and dynamic company, and despite the current economic climate, MADAME VACANCES has ambitious development plans.
As a Management Trainee, you will report directly to one of the company directors. These include: The Managing Director or Chairman, General Manager, Finance Director, Director of Marketing, Director of Research & Development or Director of Human Resources – often acting as their Personal Assistant on a wide range of tasks. You could be working in any of the following departments: Sales & Reservations;Marketing; Planning; Legal; or Human Resources. Training is very much on the job, with no formal program but adapted to the skills of the individual.
Madame Vacances is open to applications from candidates who are either seeking experience of working abroad for a minimum period of twelve to eighteen months, or who are looking at a longer-term career.
Ideally suited to a recent graduate looking for a career in the Industry, past experience in resort life will be a bonus as well as excellent organisational skills, enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard to achieve excellent results.
You may start off by going to Head office in Chambery, before being sent to a Ski Resort, to assist the company with operations, working in whatever capacity you are required to, in order to ensure the smooth running of the hotel/chalet operations.
You may work as a receptionist or waiter in a hotel or as a resort representative in a specific resort, or you may move from resort to resort, depending on the needs of the business.
You must be able to speak and write French to a very high standard, and ideally have some hotel/hospitality experience, and certainly proven customer service skills.
A successful traineeship would lead to substantial career progression.
