Job Details
Teachers will be required to teach a minimum of 4 afternoon sessions per week. The remaining 9 sessions will normally be made up through participation of on-site and off-site activities and excursions. (Teachers will be required to teach EFL or morning media and film lessons to the Summer Study students when required); 1 session is for lesson and materials preparation, and the 13th session (made up of 4 x 45 minute duties) will be for residential duties.
Qualifications: PGCE or B Ed (Media and Film)
Main duties / responsibilities
- To deliver Media and Films sessions appropriate to a summer school environment
- To prepare and lead designated activity sessions as directed by the Activity Manager
- To maintain proper levels of student discipline, safety and welfare
- To assist testing students
- To ensure all required equipment requests are passed on to the Centre Manager
- To ensure weekly paperwork is completed
- To attend all relevant meetings
- To carry out residential duties, including meal, bedtime and night time supervision duties
- To act as a guardian to a small number of students
Person Specification
Essential:
- PGCE or B Ed. (Media and Film)

Ideally you will have:
- Media / Film Teaching Experience
- Previous knowledge of summer schools
- Experience of working in EFL environment
- Experience of dealing with continuous enrolment
- Previous experience of working with minors and teenagers
Your pay is broken down as Basic Pay + Holiday Pay which will be payable at the end of your employment.
A deduction of £30 per week will be made for accommodation for residential staff
Returning Staff Loyalty Increments: £10 per week per yearly return to MW Summer schools (max. 3 years)
Staff will accrue prorated annual holidays with pay at the rate of 5.6 weeks per annum. Unless there are special circumstances agreed during the interview, this holiday can only be taken at the end of the contract and staff will be paid for untaken holidays at the end of their employment.
