This region of France has it all - Sun, Sea and Sangria!! It’s a beautiful part France with the sea only two miles from the mountains in places and some breathtaking scenery. Also with it being so close to Spain there is a large Spanish influence and the people are very proud of being Catalan. If it’s a relaxing time you’re looking for there are some great beaches with some great weather. For the more active there's about every extreme sport you could wish for all on your doorstep. Activities such as diving, snorkelling, mountain biking, canyoning, wire walking, horse riding, rafting and sailing to name but a few. For those who like sightseeing, medieval towns such as Carcassonne and Villefranche de Conflent are a must. Picturesque villages such as Collioure and Elne are dotted around the region, and towns such as Perpignan, Narbonne and Bezier are worth a visit too.
If it’s typical French life you want you do have to go a little more inland as the coastal villages of Argelès, Saint Cyprien and Canet are very touristy but for the lively these towns are packed with bars and restaurants and the odd night club.
All in all this region has it all and is a great place to spend a season.
