A vacancy has arisen for a Maintenance Assistant at Loch Ranza, our specialist field studies educational centre, which provides a unique and spectacular location for pupils aged 10-18 years, in the beautiful northern part of the Isle of Arran.
PGL Travel Ltd is the UK’s leading provider of residential activity holidays and educational courses for children. More than 250,000 young guests enjoy a PGL trip each year, and our support teams ensure our centres run like clockwork.
You will be involved in the delivery of essential services to ensure that the non-activity side of our guests stay exceeds their expectations. This will include, on a daily basis, carrying out general maintenance works to all accommodation, facilities and grounds. You’ll also assist with external building and maintenance specialists when required, and liaise with external suppliers.
Keeping on top of things when there are lots of children passing through your centre week after week is certainly a challenge. You could be painting rooms, building fences, fixing leaky taps and changing plugs … all in the same day!
The role offers individuals to work as part of a highly motivated team, in a professional, friendly and supportive environment.
You may have the chance to try your centre's activities during your free time, building up your personal competency in the process. You may also participate in evening entertainment for our guests.
A background in basic maintenance skills (painting, decorating, plumbing, carpentry etc…) is essential along with a full UK driving license.
We're looking for people who are enthusiastic, enjoy working as part of a team and are willing to learn more. This role is ideal if you enjoy participating in outdoor activities, yet aren’t looking for an instructional role.
Our centre on the Isle of Arran is just 200 metres from Loch Ranza where you can kayak and windsurf. Arran is the ideal location for spotting wildlife: the island is home to red deer, red squirrels, basking sharks, seals and golden eagles.
We offer a competitive wage, residential package, free uniform, access to training opportunities, the chance to live and work in a unique environment and much more.
If this sounds like a job role and location you would enjoy, please visit our website for more info and to apply online: www.pgl.co.uk/recruitment
