All over the world there are huge numbers of children and adults in need of care and attention. By volunteering on a Care placement with Projects Abroad you can help make an invaluable difference to these people’s lives.
No previous experience or qualifications are needed, simply a passion to care for those less fortunate than yourself.
A Care placement with Projects Abroad offers volunteers the chance to work in either orphanages or care centres with children and adults from underprivileged backgrounds.
The main role of a volunteer will be to help out with the day-to-day running of these centres. Depending on your placement, you may find yourself assisting with meal times, washing and dressing, delivering informal English lessons, and also organising games, activities and day trips. Many volunteers choose to incorporate their own interests and talents in to these activities: this may include music, sports matches or arts & crafts sessions.
Conditions in these orphanages and care centres are often basic and the staff heavily overworked, but you'd be surprised what a bit of creativity and enthusiasm can achieve. Volunteers make an extremely worthwhile contribution by providing extra help to the local staff in caring for some of the developing world’s most vulnerable people. An experience like this is sure to be rewarding not only for the children and adults you work with, but also for you. Though the work can be challenging at times, the strength and resilience of the children will inspire you to push on and create memories to last a lifetime.
Volunteers receive full support from our staff, partners and host-families throughout their placement. You will meet other volunteers from all over the world who quickly become a close network to work, travel and socialise with. Volunteers have weekends off to travel and visit local attractions. Our staff often arrange weekend trips and social events for volunteers.
Please get in contact if you have any questions or would like to know if your skills can be put to use in a Care project. Thousands of our volunteers have enjoyed care projects across all of our countries - we'd be happy to help you choose the right destination for you.
We also accept qualified social workers, psychologists and art therapists on professional placements where you can put your skills and expertise to good use.
