Barcaldine Castle is a well-established, luxury bed and breakfast and weddings business situated in a stunning location 9 miles north of Oban.
The castle has 6 stylish en-suite guest bedrooms, personally furnished with antiques and high quality designer soft furnishings. Whilst the property retains its historic features, there are 21stcentury comforts throughout and we operate to 4 star gold standards.
The successful applicants will be responsible for the day to day running of the castle. This includes welcoming guests, arranging maintenance, breakfast and food services, cleaning and general upkeep, laundry, keeping accurate records, stock purchasing, health and safety and operation of a small bar. Ideally the successful apllicants will have experience with computerised reservation systems (ie Booking.com), in basic accounts (Excel), marketing and of running bespoke events.
Experience in a similar high-end hospitality role is essential, as well as having a passion for good customer service, exceptional attention to detail and enthusiasm to support leading the castle business forward. This is a hands on role, affording you the opportunity to be the face of the business. An honest, hard working and reliable team are essential to the successful operation of the business.
Applicants should be dynamic, energetic, practical and physically fit as the castle has a 42 step stone staircase. Cleaning is part of the job with the assistance of a daily part-time housekeeper. All laundry is processed in house. Bookings are taken externally and a local senior manager is on hand for training, support and time off cover. There are no normal working hours for this employment and you are required to work such hours as are necessary for the performance of the business. The castle trades 7 days a week and hours are split shifts from 7am until 10pm daily. Time off is one full day and one evening per week. You will be asked to agree that the 48 hour weekly working time limit in Regulation 4(1) of the Working Time Regulations 1998 shall not apply to this Employment.
