The Role 

We are recruiting for Resort Managers to oversee the running of our catered ski chalets in Val d'Isere, Tignes, and Val Thorens. The Resort Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the high standards of our company are met by the resort teams. You should be a proactive, self-motivated individual with previous management experience. You will need to have a keen eye for detail, great interpersonal skills, and the ability to keep a cool head during stressful times.

Buildmyskitrip.com are a family-run business who have been running since 2013. Everything we ask our staff to do, we have also done ourselves. We 11 chalets over 3 resorts in the French Alpes, ranging from 6 to 28 guests. All of our chalets are run on a sole-occupancy basis (we only sell to groups) and we offer a fully catered service to include breakfast, afternoon tea and a 4-course evening meal 6 days a week. 

You will be our eyes and ears on the ground, making sure the chalet hosts and chefs adhere to our high standards at all times and that the guests have the most fantastic holiday possible. It is imperative that strong relationships are built between you and the rest of the team to make sure everyone stays motivated throughout the season. You should be a team player and no task, however tedious, should seem below you. 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily management of the resort team to ensure excellent high standards at all times
  • Assisting with pre-season training, the preparation of chalets and staff accommodation
  • Staff supervision, ensuring the chalet staff are punctual, well-presented, polite and providing a high-quality service whilst working to their full potential
  • Overseeing and ensuring high standards of hygiene and presentation are maintained in chalets
  • Meeting and greeting guests 
  • Food shopping adhoc. when ingredients haven’t been delivered
  • Ensuring stock checks are accurate and have been completed
  • Ensuring the linen is fully returned each week
  • If there are any issues with linen or bread deliveries, ensuring this is dealt with in a promptly manner
  • Ordering and organising wood deliveries
  • Organising weekly staff plan/rota
  • Ensuring all relevant and, up-to-date reservation information is passed to the appropriate chalet hosts
  • Light property maintenance
  • Assisting any resort employees with their duties if required
  • Opening and shutting down chalets and resort
  • Overseeing chalet inventories are maintained (glasses, plates, cutlery, etc.)
  • Offering concierge services such as booking restaurants
  • Dealing with any issues that may arise and go ‘over and beyond’ to ensure they are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Making sure the hot tubs are being maintained correctly
  • Quality control - ensuring the meals cooked are of a consistent and high standard and that chalet hosts are sticking to the set menu
  • Liaising with the area manager to report issues and keep them UpToDate

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous management experience in the travel or hospitality industries
  • A people person, able to build great relationships with your team and customers
  • Exposure to working with and managing a large team
  • High attention to detail and high standards
  • Great communicating and problem-solving skills
  • Driving license
  • Hard working and self-motivated
  • French language skills preferable but not essential
