The 4 Week CSIA Level 1 gives those looking to become an instructor in the same season the perfect opportunity to achieve their goals. With the course starting at the beginning of the season it means you will qualify in time for the Lake Louise Ski School’s ‘annual draft’ of ski instructors. Each Basecamper has a guaranteed job interview with the Lake Louise Ski School, so if you have a Canadian Working Holiday visa you could have the opportunity to work as a ski instructor in the same season as you qualify. Just make sure you brush up on your interview skills as well as your skiing skills during your course!

QUALIFICATIONS CSIA LEVEL 1:
The Canadian Ski Alliance (CSIA) Level 1 is an introduction CSIA technique and methodology; it is the entry-level ski instructor qualification for teaching novices and young children how to ski. It combines the basics of practical ski teaching methods, technical understanding and development of guest service skills; specifically addressing children’s skiing.
WHAT YOUR LEVEL 1 QUALIFICATION COURSE INCLUDES:
- An introduction to CSIA skiing and teaching methodology
- Techniques and strategies for effective assessment and development
- Workshop on customer service
- Workshop on teaching children
Q: How good do you have to be at skiing before the course?
A: You should be able to ski red runs confidently, and be comfortable on black runs – Check out our video ‘How good do I need to be to do and Instructor Course?’
Q: Is the course hard to pass?
A: The level 1 isn't hard to pass. It's an entry-level qualification. Participants will be assessed on their ability to perform and teach on the mountain. We get a 100% pass rate year in year out.
Q: How likely is it that I’ll get a job?
A: In recent years everyone who has wanted a job has secured one. We don't like to guarantee as it's down to the individual to posses the skill and attitude that employers are looking for.
