Chalet Management Couple

Job Details

We're looking for a Chalet Management Couple to help us run our chalet in Meribel. One of you needs to be an accomplished chef, the other should have extensive hospitality experience and be capable of managing a small team whilst leading the front of house and housekeeping services in the chalet.

As a Chalet Chef you will be responsible for delivering a luxurious dining experience to your guests. You will have the opportunity to train in our signature dishes including Kaiseki - our Japanese fine dining experience - as well as using your creativity to refine your own style and menus.

Chef's main responsibilities

  • Plans balanced, varied and creative menus for breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner that are tailored to specific guest requests - also prepares staff meals as required.

  • Works within the allocated budget and submits weekly menu plans and spend reports.

  • Supports the Front of House teams as required and always take the lead in ensuring the kitchen is presented to high standards of cleanliness at all times.

  • Maintain high levels of food hygiene during all preparation and service tasks, completing HACCP records as required.

  • Prepared to work in an open kitchen, be observed by guests and demonstrate your passion for food on a daily basis.

Skills & Experience

  • Professional cheffing experience either in private dining or a restaurant with a strong understanding of fine dining

  • A real passion for modern dining experiences and the luxury ski industry

  • Flexibility – able to cope well with varied and changing tasks and environments

  • Excellent verbal communication - proficient in English

  • Organised and well-presented with an excellent eye for detail

  • EU Passport and/or the right to live and work in France

  • Ideal candidates would also have relevant experience in a seasonal / private dining environment i.e. previous seasonal experience (ski/villa/yachts/private chef)

As our Chalet Manager you will be the primary contact point for our guests in your chalet, leading all aspects of service delivery, so you'll share our passion for food and drink. You will meet some amazing people, both your guests and of course your colleagues. Normally you will be working with several Chalet Hosts so you'll need leadership skills but also a strong teamwork ethic as this is still a hands-on role.

Chalet Manager's main responsibilities

  • Lead the service of breakfast and dinner in the chalet, confidently presenting our menus and drinks to ensure that guests enjoy an amazing dining experience

  • Build a rapport with your guests to put them at ease whilst on holiday - help them to plan their daily itinerary including making lunch suggestions / reservations and handling any other in-resort concierge requests

  • You will be confident in driving so that you can transport guests to the slopes each morning

  • Mentor and oversee the work of a junior chalet host who will work alongside you - you will also need to oversee the chef to ensure your guest’s dietary requirements and preferences are met

  • Take overall responsibility for the presentation of the chalet - both by supervising the work of your chalet host, and also through active hands-on involvement

  • Produce accurate weekly reports covering various aspects of chalet operation and guest feedback

Skills & Experience

  • Previous five star hospitality experience and ideally previous winter season experience

  • Competent and passionate about the delivery of fantastic food and beverage service

  • Flexibility – able to cope well with varied and changing tasks and environments

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills - proficient in English

  • Experience of dealing with international clients of different backgrounds is also beneficial

  • Organised and well-presented with an excellent eye for detail in all aspects of chalet presentation

  • Full driving license and be confident of driving a minibus in winter conditions (training provided)

  • EU Passport and/or the right to live and work in France


  • French Contract

  • 5 day working week
