The Moorings - Assistant Manager

The job will be varied and you will need to be flexible and enthusiastic to fit with the Georgian House ethos.  You will be working closely with your line manager on these duties:

  • Responsible in assisting with the smooth running of The Moorings
  • Act as Line Manager to all Front of House (FOH) staff
  • Play an active role on the floor on a daily basis, ensuring you are working as part of the floor as and when required, being out front at every given opportunity, and generally oversee the FOH operations
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving The Moorings' high standard of customer service 
  • Shared responsibility for the good upkeep of the interior and exterior of the building
  • To ensure the well-being, satisfaction and comfort of all customers 
  • Ensure all services, functions and events are appropriately staffed 
  • Ensure the team are suitably trained and delivering service in accordance to The Moorings guidelines in all aspects of customer care, the product, upcoming events, and health and safety procedures 
  • Monitor and responsible for the staff’s work performance, FOH systems are being adhered to, timekeeping, general discipline, conduct at work, implement staff dress code etc.  To report any incidents to line manager
  • Alongside the General Manager, be the first point of contact for staff, kitchen and customers 
  • Encourage customer feedback and act upon complaints immediately to improve The Georgian’s customer care, in conjunction with the General Manager 
  • Act as front of house coordinator for busy services, functions and events 
  • Responsible for building excellent rapport with the kitchen and bar team, ensure good working relations with  the front of house team is maintained 
  • Liaise with kitchen team each service on booking diary details, menu details, relay customer feedback where appropriate etc. 
  • Responsible for the welfare primarily of the front of house team, but to have awareness of the well-being of the whole team in general.   To relay any concerns and work closely with GM to ensure these are addressed to ensure maximum staff retention and good working environment 
  • Attend weekly manager meetings and action points from these accordingly
  • Handover to team coming in for the following service and weekly meeting with line manager before your days off  
  • Awareness and management of running costs and ensuring wastage is kept to a minimum 
  • Required to have a good understanding of the operations of each department, and a good knowledge of product across the board 
  • Responsible for ensuring customer accounts / tabs are paid and reconciled at the end of each service 
  • Working outside your hours outlined on the rota when required in order to achieve smooth running service
  • Ensure the till is updated with products and prices daily

Extra Duties (once fully trained on the above) and not limited to:

  • Responsible for monies in your care and awareness of security issues
  • Undertake administrative duties, including assisting line manager with the creation and maintenance of staff rotas 
  • Assist in reporting, reconciling and banking FOH sales 
  • Assist in sharing office responsibilities in line managers absence

Key Skills and Attitude Requirements 

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in customer service environment 
  • Experience in managing a team 
  • Highly personalised style of service and attention to guests and detail
  • Helpful and friendly attitude to all guests at all times 
  • Supportive, impartial, fair and approachable figure to the team
  • Adapt management techniques to suit individual team members 
  • To take any feedback on personal performance in the constructive manner it is intended 
  • Set an example to the team in terms of work ethic and general conduct  
  • To maintain a high standard in personal appearance and demeanour
  • To take pride in your performance at work and The Georgian House product whilst constantly striving to improve these at every given opportunity  
  • Regular communication with Management

Assistant/Deputy Manager Benefits Package: 

  • From £20,800 per annum
