France and Spain offer plenty of courier, bar, and customer service work. You can arrange most of these jobs before you get out there (by applying for the jobs on this website).
Working a summer in France is very popular with the British and Irish. Many nationals of other countries also come here and as long as you already have permission to work benefit from the booming tourism industry and timely picking seasons. In the cities, bar work, club work, freelance translating or teaching English are good ways to survive. Teaching English is an old favourite but this is becoming increasingly difficult to get into. By far and away the safest of all routes into working in France is by arranging something before you go, there is work on the 'black' but this is a lot riskier.
Where do you start with Spain? There is so much to do in this great country. If you want a busy seaside resort with plenty going on, casual work on a farm, or to teach English in a city Spain is a good place to start looking. Despite British Tour operators reducing their capacity in areas like the Costa Brava, Spain still provides plenty of opportunities for work in bars, restaurants and for reps and kids reps. There are also a good amount of big campsites employing campsite couriers, kids couriers and entertainers etc directly and via tour operators. Again, we advise you strongly to use this website to arrange work in advance.
Italy can be a bit harder to find work in than France or Spain and languages tend to be more important (German is more use than English in the tourism market). Qualified English teachers will find work teaching business English in the North and if you can speak German you should have no problem finding work in the coastal resorts of the Adriatic and Mediterranean. For English speaking job seekers you might be better trying the UK tour operators who operate on campsites and in hotels in cities such as Venice and Rome, and in the lakeside resorts in the mountains around around the Lakes.
