Disadvantaged Children

Many developing countries have high populations of homeless people, many of these are children who also suffer from abuse and addiction to alcohol or drugs. Volunteer projects focus on helping disadvantaged children by setting up and running shelters or outreach services. A rewarding and worthwhile way to spend some of your year out and you couldn't make a contribution to a more worthwhile cause.
