Which other companies have you worked for? We got offered a job by Lifestyle holidays too there part of keycamp i think and Canvas asked us to go for an interview but we said no as didnt want to be in tents, I love camping but 5 months in a tent is a little bit to long for me lol.
Yeah it should be great I cant wait, where is your site? Do you know how many people are on it?
So what was a normal day like then? Anything specific I need to remember to take? Your so lucky taking your car and tele haha I tried to persuade my partner to drive but he doesnt want to. Will be good to meet up on the boat before we even get to the training so that we all know someone already :-)
You have a long drive down from newcastle.

Holidaybreak and Canvas...both not great to be honest. Living in a tent is amazing you get the chance to pimp your tent out...
I'm off to Clarys Plage in the Vendee it's supposed to be good..I've met 2 others going there with Al fresco on here so canny! Normal day depends really on arrivals/montage cleans...cleaning inside of vans up to customer ready, cleaning exteriors etc hard work and seems to take forever but really important as the cleaner they are now the easier the rest of the season will be. Washing line, invaluable...plenty of home comforts, dvd's + laptop for the cold rainy nights, a kettle, iron, there is a list on here somewhere with the essentials... Yer it'll be good for us all to meet up as long as were getting the boat at the same time etc? once we al know should organise to share phone numbers etc so we can meet up! will be a laugh as your right it's about an 8 hour ferry crossing! You'll regret taking your car I bet I didn't take mine first year and was lost but was close to a supermarket but for getting off site is really helpful at peak season....

Oh thats good, Ive only met one person whos on our site and shes not there until 25th May!
Oh yeah hadnt even thought of a washing line, we are taking our laptop so will take some dvds to! We dont do hot drinks so wont need a kettle well unless we need it for cooking. Will we not get one in the mobile homes?
How long does it take to clean a van do you reckon? How many cleans do you usually do a day?

I think its a 12 hr ferry, 8.15pm - 8am I think! We should be on the same ferry as I think it only leaves once a day from Portsmouth.
I know yeah but cant perduade him lol, were quite central so hoping well be ok with getting to the supermarket and think we get a bike to dont we lol.
Did you get to request which day you had off to a certain extent or were you told?

Not sure most mobiles may have a whisteling kettle but yer for in a morning it takes forever!!
Depends really for HB the vans were pretty bad and there's loads of staff sometimes you'd be paired up and would take couple of hours...not sure with Alfresco.. It's down to your supervisor really but you do get quite a bit of time off esp in the low season as long as the works getting done, with you being with a partner you'll get time off together unless you'd rather not ha ha... That's really good then we could have a few drinks together then with us drivers being able to sleep it off before our drive to Dol it's not far from St Malo at all so it's good...but if we get in at 8am then we start work at 11 on the Sunday!! nasty!x

Oh thats good, how much a week did you find you got off in the low season, did you still get your one day off in the high season?
You must absolutely love it then if its your first time.
Yep that sounds good then :-) Yeah I didnt think it was very far, I think were getting picked up in St Malo and taken there.
I know thats crap, well have an hr or so then will be starting. Is the training easy?

Depends really on the size of your site and how much work you get through normally 2 day's though depending on your supervisor..yer of course you have to have at least one day off if not more...
I can only speak about the training with other companies and yer it's a pretty relaxed affair!

Oh sounds good, I didnt realise wede get more then 1 day off thats great.
Im really looking forward to it, counting the days down now. You got an idea what time youll have to leave then if the ferrys at 8, will it take you about 5 hours or so from Newcastle?
Have you been working inbetween the seasons?

It'll take me 7 hours to portsmouth from Newcastle so quite a trip be good though i'll be in holiday mode so won't care!!
Yer just volunteering though as normally mae enough and don't really spend much while I'm out there....sometime do winter season in spain just depends really...can't wait though wish it was this weekend we were going"!

Oh yeah that is a long one, think were leaving about 2pm, were getting a lift there, will take us about 3 hours then well start drinking and get some food then get on to the ferry
I was made redundant in Feb thats why I decided to defo do it but im just temping at the mo until we leave, cant live without a wage.
Yeah me to, 3 more weekends to go, it cant come quick enough.
Did you manage to save money when your out there then? Is Thomson better pay then your last ones?

Aw never thanks pretty bad like loosing your job it's so hard as there's not many jobs going at the min, so I think a lot of people are doing jobs like this now...it's a good way of life
Yer I did manage to save a bit which lasted me over the winter and maybe a little part time work at xmas to get presents etc for people... The pay is pretty much the same with every company unless you into management and then it's a little different..

Yeah I know, I managed to get a temping job straight away which im still doing and im there until i leave for france so thats good!

I actually did and apparantly the women i have been trying to contact doesnt work for Al fresco anymore. I have actually just got where i am going through and im going to the Venetian Riviera in Italy, the campsite it Union Lido. I am actually really glad i contacted them lol otherwise i would still be sat her waiting. Woo im excited now :D x |

Awww thats cool! A friend who i met last year on my first season worked on Dol from like march till october in 2009 n she said it was amazing! I dont know anyone whos going to span tho, bet its lovely! :)
