Do not work for this hotel.  http://www.ski-jobs.co.uk/s-job-details_55660.aspx?qu=%3fscat%3d-1%26pro%3d45%26loc%3d-1%26type%3d1%26live%3d2%26con%3d1%26word%3d

If anyone has applied for this role, be careful. I worked for them a couple of seasons again and it was awful! At first they seem very nice however after a few weeks the cracks started to show. It is extremely badly run and the manager is very manipulative and "bully's" the staff. There was four of working at the hotel and all of us felt bullied! They r very controlling and like to know exactly what u do in your free time and pass judgement on it. The manager tried to stir between the four staff and always made us feel like we were doing a sh*t job. He often came into our accommodation and we felt constantly "watched." Also they took our tip money from the guests. In the contract it said that we would eat what the guests eat, however this is not the case, we were given leftovers at lunch and were only allowed to eat certain foods for breakfast. The job its self is great and the skiing area is amazing but bullying management made the season very unpleasant.

You're totally right! I have worked at this hotel as well and agree with pretty much everything you said.

We were constantly put down and made to feel worthless, as though what we were doing was never good enough. Even after working sometimes 14 hour shifts, we were not thanked at all.
When they felt we had done something wrong or not up to scratch they would mess with our heads and make us guess what we had done wrong, if we didn't get it right they would shake their heads and tut at us.
Our breaks were rushed and i often felt either ill from eating too quickly or hungry from not having enough time to eat.

On numerous occasions we were interrogated on our personal lives and judged accordingly. Comments on our physical appearance were made such as "your face looks like its been mauled by a tiger" that coming from the owner of this hotel to a member of staff is not acceptable.

I know myself and other members of staff shed tears due to the fact that we treated like complete sh*t.
Our time working at edelweiss was cut short and one by one all 4 of us working there had left. From what I've heard the staff they hired to replace us also quit. This was not due to the job and the work we did but due to how nastily we we treated.

When working away from home, away from family and friends, you need to be surrounded by people who are welcoming and make you feel comfortable and at home. Not surrounded by people who make you cry and doubt yourself.

i'd also add that i felt guest were treated unfairly, those guest who return year after year are given priority and are favored much more by the owners. If you read this review on trip advisor by a guest you'll get the picture.

On their job description there is a sentence which says 'If your main aim is to party, then you should definitely apply elsewhere'....this is just simply due to the fact there are no bars in itter itself. The hotel is very isolated and pretty much in the middle of nowhere. however there are local buses and very friendly taxi services available. There are other villages close by where you can go to socialise and make friends. I recommend Soll, its got a great atmosphere and you will definitely make friends with both locals and other season workers. The majority of our spare time was spent here and after leaving edelweiss 2 of found new jobs and accommodation in soll for the rest of the season. Life long friends were made here.

If you are reading this too late and you already have a job with hotel edelweiss, dont worry, get out there and head to soll. once you make friends, there are plenty of people who can help you.

Good Luck :)
