Have you ever thought about working on luxury motor yachts or sailing yachts?

It's a good way to travel and you don't need to pay for travel, accommodation or food.

Many employers will take on novice crew if they have additional non-sailing skills that are helpful for the smooth running of a vessel.   Some vessel owners take on people for working holidays or working passages, ideal for Gap Year students.   The pay is low for novices but you get to travel for free, and once you have some experience you can earn a good salary as a professional crewmember.

You may have some sailing or non-sailing skills that would enable you to crew on a yacht.   There are positions available for novices with Language skills, IT Skills, Customer Services/PR, Catering, Food and Beverage Service etc...

It would be a good idea to get qualified to STCW 95 standard if you want to work on commercial (Charter) vessels, but it's not necessary if crewing on small private (Non-commercial) yachts.

Please have a look at my website FAQ pages if you require further information or drop me a line!

Good luck and fair winds in 2005 and beyond.
