I'm heading out on the 10th March until 10th September and I am wondering what I need to pack! Do we get a packing list of basics/essentials we need to take with us? If anyone has been before, what do you recommend taking with me? I can#t really find a lot online!

Hi there! Don't bother taking shampoo/conditioner/toiletries etc. They weigh your luggage down loads and you can buy it out there! Most people get to do a shop the day they arrive or the following day. Sleeping bag is definitely a good one to pack. If you're out for montage you need to take old clothes that you don't mind getting a bit messy, but not much. Mostly you're in uniform, so don't take your entire wardrobe, haha. UK/EU adaptors for plugs and extension lead too is handy. Clothing depends on what region your in. If its gonna be warm, pack summer gear. I stock up on paracetamol and ibuprofen and allergy tablets over the winter too, cos they're much cheaper in Tesco than they are overseas!! :)

Hey! Thanks alot, will we still be doing montage if we are with Al Fresco? From what I picked up it seems to be mostly people that are staying in tents on the sites that are doing that but I'm probably tooootaally wrong! I am gonna be in Cote D'Azur and it's my first year so I wasn't too sure. I was hoping to rely a lot on supermarkets for toiletries because I'd rather have clothes haha! Never thought of paracetamol or anything though. thank you!

I suggest you take a couple of old towels, thin ones that dry quickly. And consider clothing that dries off quickly. You may want to save up your old underwear for its last wearing and bin it as you go along, saves a bit on washing.

Alfresco live in mobile home accommodation, personal favorite is to take a laptop with you. I know companies don't recommend it but its very handy for films, internet etc.. Hope this helps you out abit more. |

Hello, Me and my other half will also be down in the sunny cote d'azure this year. You are very lucky to get such a nice area for your first season, well done. You will mostly need summer clothing but as you start in March it will still be warming up so things you can layer are always a good idea. Other than that it just depends how much you can carry ( I will have hairdryer straightners, laptop etc however I do have the benefit of taking my own caravan down for the summer ![]() I wouldnt worry too much about toiletries etc as there will be pleanty of supermarkets nearby. Just take enough to cover you for a week or so until you are settled. Edited by Beanie - 10 February 2013 at 15:13 |

Thanks! Do you know if the plugs in the mobile homes are UK or European fittings? Should I take adapters just incAse? does everyone have to do montage or does it tend to be the people staying in tents that have to do it? So many questions! When are you guys heading out? I'm 10th March! I was super lucky to get Cote D'Azur, that was somewhere I really wanted to be sent! I take it this isnt your first year? This is all really useful, thanks everyone!

Al Fresco live mobiles are all different, most have some UK and some Europeon but I would take a couple of adapters to be on the safe side! Montage is mostly putting up tents and as Al Fresco do not have tents you will not be doing proper montage, you will be doing bridging which is just montage cleaning of the vans, a really good clean of each one before opening since they have been left empty over winter they can be a bit minging when you get there. I usually take mostly clothes, make up, hair straightners... the rest you can buy over there. Have you been told what site you will be on or just the area? x

Ah right ok, yeah I kinda guessed that we wouldn't be doing full montage just based on what people have been saying! That's really handy though, thank you! I have just been told the area, haven't received my letter to sign or anything yet so will hopefully find out after that! If not then I'm away in March do it won't be long to find out!! Are you going this year? How many years have you been? :)

I don't think you'll be staying in tents with Al Fresco as they don't have any. Put it this way, I'd be very surprised if you are. There should be mobile homes for you to stay in.

Def take some adapters with you. Even if you dont need them you will no doubt save someones life who has forgotten one!! Montage will be fine if you are not doing tents. As long as the prevous season's couriers have left the units in a decent state, otherwise be prepared for mould mould mould. bleugh ![]() We will be on site on the 28th Feb so just a little before you as we have the caravan and our dogs to get settled. Very excititng. No this is not our first year we started back in 2006 but have had a few years back in the UK doing "proper" jobs (so boring!!) Anything else you need give us a shout ![]() Edited by Beanie - 11 February 2013 at 09:24 |

We are with Canvas so we wont have the same training as you no. If its the same as Canvas then your meals will probably be provided that week and after that its all up to you. |

You will be staying in mobiles on training, these will be customer units and then afterwards you will go to your site to set up and clean mobiles .Your live unit on site will have continental plug sockets and possibly English sockets and this could well be the case with the unit you are staying in for the training course.Al Fresco provides emergency medical insurance whilst you are in resort but if you have expensive personal items with you, you may well consider additional insurance.Hope this helps and all the best.

Hiya, my number one packing tip that I am dying to share is:
don't take a sleeping bag take a duvet!!! You can get a single from Wilkos fr £4.50 at the minute, I took one last year, it weighed no more than a sleeping bag, and you don't rustle around and get tangled up in it, it's warmer when you need it and less sweaty than a sleeping bag and best thing, you can take the sheets off and WASH THEM! Who wants to sleep in an unwashed sweaty sleeping bag for ~3 months not me! Seriously consider it you won't look back and everyone will be so jealous lol oh and you can chuck it away when you leave to make room for any souvenirs/ anything you've accrued over the summer :-) |

And like a couple of other people have said stock up on painkillers and anti-histamines as I found you can only buy them in pharmacies in Italy and France which have funny opening times and they cost like 7 euros a packet and you have to ask for them in the local language (obviously) which is embarrassing when you can only say a few words.
Also girls make sure you have enough of your pill to last you the whole time and if you are prone to cystitis take some of those packets they sell at Boots as if you get a flare up you'll have to go to the local GP again difficult if your language skills are not great. Don't forget razors, I found them really expensive in both France and Italy. If you are into cooking take your fave recipes for things that can be cooked on the stove top (no ovens at Holidaybreak living accom) and any herbs and spices you need - this was invaluable to me last year as had crap internet access so had all my best recipes at my fingertips (we all ate together last year) |
