In a word, No. Your car still has to be taxed in the UK to get you to and from the Ferry Port and if SORN'd it isn't insured even though you have an insurance policy for it. I know this seems wrong but after several heated discussions with insurers I was advised when keeping my vehicles off the road that to have any form of cover in case of Fire or theft you must have specific SORN insurance. It seems to be just another way for the insurer to get more money for doing nothing.
I would keep my vehicle fully taxed when abroad, don't give the insurers any chance to get out of paying, if you have an accident they'll check on the database see that it's SORNed and refuse to pay up. Edited by Mewalshy - 17 March 2015 at 09:53 |
