Ok so it has come to my attention that there is a lack of help on the net, when it comes to packing lists. Trying to remember the things you might forget is really hard, however I have started my own list. If anyone can think of things to add it would be really apprechiated and im sure others will use this link too.
Many Thanks x
Heres my list, for working abroad in a hot country:

Caoathangers, calulator, stapler, holepunch, bottle opener & tin opener, door stop?? so Not needed, u can find them everywhere. Coffee - buy locally, I can understand the tea!! Minimise the beauty products and shower gels bring enough to get by for the first few days Books limit it 2 1 or 2 which u wouldn't mind exchanging.
Keep the bag under 20kgs otherwise it'll cost a fortune when u check in!! Clothes - have enough for 2 weeks and then wash. If your on the road and don't know when yr next wash stop is u can always take underwear into the shower with u and wash when you wash you!! easy!!!
Anything on prescription - keep a copy of the prescription in your paperwork!! Someone can always translate from English to a local language, not necesarily the other way around.
Shoe polish - if u need it overseas, u can get it. Then share.
Swim wear for sure.
Loose the court shoes (unless its for work) possibly the heels as well. Exhcange for nice smart flats if u need to go out at all
i'm sure this will be added tofro someone else

Yes that's a good list. After passport, money and a toothbrush, everthing else is secondary really! You should take a look and see if you can buy the majority of things you can't take when you get to your destination. Often it's cheaper than buying them at home.

There's a lot of excess stuff on your list that you might want to reconsider bringing - like coat hangers and batteries. You're not going to jail - you'll be able to pick up all of the stuff over there with less hassle than trying to lug it all over. I would just bring the necessities.

Just for my own amusement why would you need a door stop to work abroad?
And don't respond with 'to keep doors open' haha

I seem you are packing everything. You will not able to take all the stuff in your traveling bag. I think you should create a priority list and remove unnecessary items from the list. Your pass port, job contract papers, bank cards, medical notes, medications, makeup set, diary and other important books are vital. |

Thanks so much, amazing list. Don't know why everyone is saying you're packing too much think that's pretty rude as they don't know exactly where you went. The more comprehensive the list the better IMO as everyone else can then pick and choose what they personally need. Again thanks for sharing!

I think it depends how long you are going, and the conditions of your accommodation when you are there.
For example: if you are going for 6 months, then you will need clothes that will be appropriate for the seasons you will be experience (warm + cool clothes) whereas if you are going for a month, then you can plan to bring mostly summer clothes if you are going to be arriving in summer. One thing that you didn't mention was pillows and plastic bags. You might want your pillow if you are going away for a long time, and the accommodation won't be very homely. Bringing your own pillow from home might make you a lot more comfortable. Also, to make your accommodation more homely, bring pictures from home of your friends, parents, cat, boyfriend/girlfriend etc Most people have loads of plastic bags from supermarkets and shops stashed away in a cupboard at home. Bringing along a handful of them to use as a bin liner/dirty washing bag etc will be very useful for a few reasons: - Some countries charge for plastic bags in supermarkets (eg Tesco in Ireland - 20 cents!) So you can go to the shop with your own free ones - If you have to travel within your contract abroad, you may want to wrap up shampoo etc in a plastic bag so it doesn't spill If you are staying in a nice hotel or a cruise ship then perhaps bringing your pillow and plastic bags won't be necessary as decent enough facilities will be provided for you. (hopefully!!) "Decent facilities" will also mean that you don't need to bring calculator, hole punch, stapler (you can walk into a nearby hotel reception to borrow theirs if needs be!) A tin opener should be provided in your Kitchen facilities, if not then buy one from the local shop. A door stop will definitely be provided/not needed/ in a local shop to buy. Hand sanitiser can be bought there. It's just an unnecessary extra to weigh down your precious luggage space! Paracetamol is very important to bring as it's much cheaper in the UK. You can buy Paracetemol from Sainsbury's for under 40p, whereas in Greece, it can cost 3 euros for a similar amount! You mentioned plug adapters which is extremely important. I've known people use three different plug adapter techniques! 1. They buy 1 plug adapter plus an extension lead. This means that they can have all their devices (chargers, straighteners, hairdryer etc) plugged into their home country extension lead which is then plugged into the foreign wall with the plug adapter, without the need for multiple adapters for each device. 2. They buy an adapter for each device that they own (one for their straighteners, one for their hairdryer etc) plus one other just in case. These adapters can end up costing a bit of money but is good if you happen to lose one, or your room mate accidentally packs yours into her bag when she leaves mid-season!!! 3. They bring one or two only. This means lots of plugging and unplugging which is fine but a bit of a hassle. If you are going away for a long time then most toiletries can be bought when you get there. The only thing I would recommend is bringing all your own makeup as well as tea from home if you like a particular brand eg Yorkshire Tea. Most countries have good coffee in the supermarkets but Yorkshire Tea is often missed off the shelves! If you are going for a long time then don't be afraid to pay extra for luggage as you will have to put up with anything that you left at home and it's those home comforts you miss the most. So don't be stingy if you can. Plus, you will probably end up buying things and wanting to bring them home so try and leave a little room in your suitcase for those inevitable extras Hope this adds to your list
