Hi Becky i have just been looking to apply with them, ive already been turned down by TUI and have an interview with Thomas Cook in a few weeks. Not sure if to go for it or not? How was the interview etc? Jade x

Hi Jade

My interview was one to one and I think they do small group interviews. You have to go down London. It wasn't as big and scary as tui and Thomas Cook, I applied for them a few years back and didn't get through. They just asked questions about previous experience, scenarios and what I would bring to the team. They seem like a good company to work for. X

Ah okay thankyou :) I think I am going to apply for them tomorrow! I have set my heart on Thomas cook and really want that one but think I need a back up plan too! X

Good luck with your Thomas Cook interview! Hope you get it but its good to have a back up plan too. X

Hey I have also been offered a job this summer! In Greece (thought not sure where yet) as kids club manager...very excited! Do you know where/when you're going? x

Hiya, Oo very exciting! I'm working in the creche but don't know where I'm heading yet. Although I'm starting in April full season. Are you doing full season? X

Yup headed off mid April for a full season x

Hi,

I have been offered children's club supervisor starting on 18th April (provisionally) is anyone else going out the same time?

Has anyone worked for them before, I've worked for Keycamp but this doesn't look like the sort of company you can get away with sneaking off to nap with :)

x

Hi! I am provisionally headed out on the 15th April to Greece...do you know where you are headed yet?! Never done anything like this before so not a clue what to expect x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 14:56
Not a clue, although they did say at interview they were only employing for Greece and Crete, to be fair, all the resorts look lovely, I read somewhere that Lady Gaga goes to Elouda in Crete every year!

I haven't read anywhere when they tell you your going, I wonder if they just train you all in the one place and then send you on, as Keycamp do that.

When was your interview? Mine was the 5th jan. x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 15:08
I don't know how they work training but was told to expect more information beginning of march...which seems ages away!

My interview was Friday 4th jan and I found out within a week which I was surprised about. Imaging bumping into someone like lady gaga out there! Lol

I have had a quick look as the resorts and I wouldn't say no to a holiday in any of them and I haven't seen a single bad review x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 15:15
Oh mine was the 4th what an idiot! I'm the one from Essex who wouldn't shut up lol (and walked into the people next doors flat)! I hate group interviews because you really have to sell yourself and its so embarrassing.

Yeh I found out really quickly, and when I sent a couple of original docs they sent them back within about 2 days, they seem really organised which is nice, when I worked for Keycamp they were completely clueless and took about 6 months to send me my NVQ certificate.

If anyone famous stays where I'm working, I'll have to hide, the amount I put my foot in my mouth is bad enough with regular people! x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 15:22
I did wonder if that was you! Lol I was the other one who didn't shut up...they clearly like that trait. Be nice if we end up in the same resort, knowing someone before ya go is a plus. They do seem very efficient, not that I have much to compare it to but still...

Ha ha knowing my luck there will be no one famous or some incredibly annoying z list star who no one wants to meet!!! x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 15:32
Apprently Emma Bunton goes to Crete a lot as well, we could end up with her kids!

Yeh I did wonder if that was you as well, it would be brill to know someone, I'm so nervous about being a supervisor, everyone usually hates the supervisor lol. x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 15:35
That would be such a good story to have looked after celeb kids. If they hate the supervisor they are gonna hate me! I got the managers job though no clue how!! It kinda sounds like it's a big friendly group where everyone chips in so hopefully there will be no hate groups towards us = (

Wonder if the others from the interview got a job x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 15:38
Hopefully we end up on the same resort then, seems like the manager and supervisor have to work quite closely!

All my friends from work were absolutely killing themselves when I had to do Risk Assessments, they keep changing the format of ours, and no one else knows how to do a computer, so over the last year I think I must of done about 600.

I know, everyone seemed really good, I actually walked out and rang my Mum to tell her I didn't think I'd got the job. x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 17:38
Fingers crossed we can get to muddle through between us!

Risk assessments are such a dire task...you must be a pro now.

Wouldn't be surprised if we all came away with a job of sorts to be fair, no reason not to want to employ any of the others...

I am so excited I wanna get shopping and packing now but it's only January still, got ages x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 19:35
I'm terrible at packing, when I went to work for Keycamp I completely forgot a coat or any socks, and I got sent to Brittany, it was freezing. I plan on bringing my laptop, DJ controller and a little midi keyboard so I expect I'll have about one outfit for the full season x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 21:32
I was debating bringing my ipad or not...think I will but I ALWAYS over pack, even for a weekend so don't worry you can borrow my masses of clothes! Haha x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 21:41
It is a good idea, everyone told me not to take my laptop when I went with Keycamp, and it was great for watching films when no one had money to go out! I took all my DJ stuff to the Philippines, its quite light actually I should be ok, the only problem will be denying it was me making all the noise x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 21:43
Fab person to go away with...our own personal dj! And you could deny it easily, not the typical looking Dj x

Haha, standing there in my massive white headphones 'No...wasn't me, I don't even listen to music'. I'm wondering about bringing my kitten actually, I'm really going to miss him! x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 21:54
Ha ha I told my mum she is going to have to Skype with the pup coz I'm gonna miss him! Having cuddles now

Hmm best work on disguising them...not sure it's gonna be possible actually lol x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 20 January 2013 at 21:59
Haha, I've said EXACTLY the same to my Mum, make sure I can skype Albert, I've got to teach her how to use a VGA cable to connect skype to the tv, should be interesting! x

Aha best start now! She might get the hang of it by summer.

Do you have any idea what our accommodation will be like? x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 21 January 2013 at 09:52
not at all, I know staff accommodation is usually in a totally different part to guests, I'm assuming its bigger than just a hotel room if you share with someone, from the looks of the hotels though I can't see the accommodation being too bad, better than working for Keycamp, living in a tent, and coming back drunk and pulling down your inner! x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 21 January 2013 at 12:00
A tent?! Any accommodation is better than that! Lol will be a surprise when we get there I guess x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 21 January 2013 at 14:23
Yeh, it wasn't the best, our live area was on gravel as well, so all the groundsheet had holes, so when it rained the water actually came up through the floor. Good old Keycamp days. Sani Village looks nice, from what I can gather the whole thing is a semi circle around the harbor/cove. Apparently Brad and Ange go to that part of Greece - They have got another think coming if they think they are putting that lot in the kids club! x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 22 January 2013 at 12:45
That doesn't sound pleasant at all...not a fan of camping if you hadn't guessed!

Yeah looks like a really nice area from what I can see, plenty to see and do on days off and nice little bars and restaurants hidden about.

Ahaha could you imagine! Millions of their kids running riot round the place lol x

I've already scouted out several of the nightclubs to send my promo mix to once I know what resort I'm on.

I'm actually not a fan of the whole Kavos/Magaluf type thing, but if the ones in Crete are near Malia, you'd have to go really wouldn't you? x

I didn't mean to post that twice, at the time I had a kitten attacking me for my toast. No I'm not, I look at some people and think 'thank goodness I'm THIS side of the DJ booth'! I've DJed in slippers before, rock and roll!
At least there are nice beaches on all of them, when I worked for Keycamp we had campfire nights on the beach it was wicked x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 22 January 2013 at 21:36
Aha fab! I live in my slippers, I applaud you for djing in them!

Drinks round a campfire and parties on a beach are much more my thing, hopefully will end up working with a nice bunch of people who are up for the socialising side...aaaaah so damned excited! The more I research the place the more I can't wait to get out there x

Yeh me 2, I've never been a fan of this country in the first place.Mainly the weather, the fact that I'm forced to live in Essex and the weather. In my experience , most people who do this kind of work are funners. x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 22 January 2013 at 21:59
Lol I don't mind the country just bored of normality (and the weather) you had just got back from an extended holiday if I remember rightly?!

If they aren't ill go find some fellow Greeks and party with them x

Posted By: Kelly J

Yeh, coming home was a slight culture shock, I'm hoping they are the sort of company you can work for season after season, I just want to turn up around the vague time of Christmas, get spoiled and leave again lol x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 23 January 2013 at 08:47
Ha ha I like the getting spoilt part! I'm gonna find leaving here hard! I teach gymnastics and have taught some children every week for years, it's gonna be the first time I have left them and let someone else coach them :( I'm just hoping they will still be there to coach when I get back x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 23 January 2013 at 10:43
Oh yeh I remember you saying about gymnastics, I know exactly how you feel, leaving the guys I looked after with learning disabilities was awful, I've seen them loads since I come back though, and its really good because I flounce in all happy and don't get any of the stress of actually working with them! They probably enjoy it more because I don't have to tell them off or anything.
When I was in the Philippines I rang them loads though, get someone with an iPhone to set up Skype so you can speak to them all.

It is horrible leaving for the first few weeks but once you get into a routine while your out there it actually feels normal, when you get back its really strange because you expect everyone to all be massively different, when I came back both times from being away EVERYONE I knew was doing exactly the same thing lol. Even going to the same pub on a Friday night!

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 24 January 2013 at 13:05
I'm sure it he break will do me good...come back fresh and happy not grumpy and fed up! I have told them I want a monthly email update from the group to keep a track of what's going on...although I'm sure when I'm there we will have so much going on ill barely have a minute spare to think about the gym (hopefully)

Ha ha I guess that's true...life just trudges by without change but as soon as you have. Big change you expect everything else to as well. At least you knew where to find them on Friday night when you got back lol x

I literally threw my suitcase down and went 'Mum I'm going to the Bull' and came back 2 days later lol.

I've started packing, bit sad! x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 24 January 2013 at 21:58
Aha bet your mum loved that! I have been very tempted to start packing...though I definitely win on the sad front. I'm bum bag shopping!!! Genius invention of which I don't own anymore, just can't find any pretty ones! x

My friends bought me quite an awful waterproof wallet for a joke when I went to the Philippines, one day we stayed the weekend at the beach and they had a floating bar, considering anything you can actually buy a drink with is peso notes I spent the day going to my uncle and aunty 'but I don't understand, where do people put there money when they swim there?' so after a long swim to the floating bar (which was closed anyway) I decided a waterproof wallet wasn't a bad idea, its now in my case! x

Posted By: Tashday89

That's brilliant! The height of fashion...waterproof wallets and bumbags! They do have their uses...just not attractive! x

Posted By: Kelly J
Date Posted: 26 January 2013 at 09:12
I'm sure we won't have to worry about vogue beating our door down. I'm actually such an idiot, I left most of my summer clothes in the Philippines because I bought so much random stuff home! x

Posted By: Tashday89
Date Posted: 28 January 2013 at 22:42
Told a friend I was looking at bumbags today and she practically disowned me as a friend...I'm gonna bring them back! Being primarily In the uk the last few years means I barely have a summer wardrobe...just wear one layer instead for 3!

Any advice on mobile?! My contract runs out in march and I wasn't planning on taking a smartphone with me, just a cheap one to use whilst out there. Not gonna be phoning home much ill Skype instead. Dnt really know what to do for the best as I need to keep my number for work reasons when i get back x

Well my fake Samsung Ace has dual sim (it was made in thailand I can it my Thaiphone) I was planning on taking that, and if you go on Lycamobiles website you can get a free sim and its a bit cheaper than UK. If I were you I would just get a cheap phone with a lycamobile sim for basic texting, and then take your UK sim card and just pop it it someones phone now and again to check up.

When I went to the Philippines, my blackberry exploded because of the heat, so I would keep your smartphone at home! Such a shame we don't know where we all are, if we knew we was on same site I would just say deffo leave it and borrow mine to pop your UK sim it, its amazing it cost me £37 and it literally takes any sim card.

Don't worry, all my friends think I'm nuts because I want a Sandstorm travel bag which are ridiculously expensive and WELL old fashioned lol!

Oh and just another tip, if you take your debit card out there, you will more than likely get quite a charge for cash out, but if you go into Thomas Cook and get a 'cash passport' travel card its fixed at £1.50 no matter what machine you use. You can top it up online via debit card, and its instant, so what I'm gonna do is take mine out, and top it up online when we get paid and use it for transactions. You can use it like a debit card too. I had to get one of them before i went away last or i would of spent all my money before I left lol.

You are going to be my saviour getting ready for this trip! Fab advice thanks, ill look into phones and money next month...get too excited otherwise lol

Can't believe you BB exploded cause of heat, that's not a good advert!

I LOVE sandstorm bags . Have found myself an amazing bumbag but its £30 and that's more than enough to spend on something so uncool lol x

I'm thinking about writing an ebook actually about going abroad. When i went I wrote down my passport number and the number of the embassy in England and emailed it to myself, cant be too careful.

My friend I used to work with used to always have really nice bumbags, nothing wrong with that!

That's such a good idea you should...so many people needing so many answers to random questions...you wait till I get packing ill be bombarding you with questions!

Just over 2 months to go!!!! x

i'm so excited I started a temp job today and they were all like 'WHAT, YOUR GOING TO WORK WHERE HOW LUCKY ARE YOU'

I was so clueless the first time i went, I paid about £400 in bank charges and phone bills!

One thing I would recommend packing is bite cream or antihistamines if you get bitten a lot, I'm allergic and when I went to Rhodes I forgot it all, it cost me about 20 euros to get cream and 4 anti histamine from the pharmacy, Asda do them for about £1! There's a lotion you get in the Philippines called OFF! lotion, Im going to order some off amazon, its the best one I've ever used, not one bite!

I'm dreading the amount of hand sanitizers Mums going to pack me lol

Posted By: Tashday89

I know everyone at work hates me for going, making me even more excited!

Wow I could do without those kinda charges! Will definitely follow your advice.

I have already started making a list of things I need to pack but will most likely forget...bet cream and plasters are the big ones on there! Ha ha my mum won't be anywhere near my suitcase when I pack! Lol x

I usually try to keep my Mum out of the way but wherever I go I get there and there's like 7 extra things in my case.

I've got a whiteboard in my room I've started my list already lol

Jade,

If its any help the guy who interviewed me for one of the camping companies said Thomas Cook are VERY sales driven and give you targets with regards to the excursions etc, I didn't even go to mind after he told me that.

I was on interview the same day as Tash and they said they are only still employing for Greece/Crete so I'm guessing its more than likely to be one of them.

Im guessing wherever we get sent will be hotter than England :)

Oh really? Even for kids rep? I guess I just need to sell my customer service and sales skills as well as the children's side of things!

Oh that sounds good :) yeah you're right there anything is better than England at the minute x

Meet my new friend Kelly, source of ALL information lol. Was told we would get more information about the when and the when's at the beginning of march...only a month to wait! x

Yeh, ultimately if it gets really busy you might have to cover someone/something else. I did Funstation for ages when I was just a normal courier at Keycamp (which with regards to CRB's referencing etc is probably highly illegal but better than people being unsafe on site).

Anythings better than a camping company though, I dont know how I lasted 3 months in a tent!

hi girls, after some advice. i have an interview this coming friday (22nd) for creche assistant job. ive never had a group interview before ... what happens and what sort of questions do they ask? im hoping i wont have to speak in front a group/lot of people or nerves will definitly get the better of me especially as this is the first childcare job ive applied for in years!

thanks in advance

Hi! Good luck with your interview.

Speaking from my point of view the interview was very chilled out. You get as much information from them as they do from you. They ask some basic questions like past experience, scenario and how you would deal with it, the typical interview kinda stuff but I felt free to chat as the interviewer seemed very interested in each individual and what they could bring to the company.

I had an interview last year as well (unfortunately applied too late) and both times the hour went very quick! Hope this helps x

hey, thanks for reply
so do they interview you altogether then not individually? guarentee my mind will freeze if its in front of others. hopefully i wont of left it too late for this summer

do you know when you start yet?

I had group interviews both times but hopefully you won't freeze up, I prefer group chats as it feels much less informal and much less pressure to impress...just be yourself!

I'm headed off mid april (counting down the days). I was interviewed in march las year and was out on a reserves list if they needed more staff x

Hi ,

I know group interviews are really daunting, but you really need to think to yourself, I don't care what anyone thinks, I'm just going to speak up :) you could either make some people you'll never see again think you are a bit sure of yourself and get a dream job, or stay quiet and not get it.
not sure if you have researched the resorts but they are AMAZING. And they lady who sat in on our interview had only done 2 season and she was quite high up.
I obviously intend to own the whole company by time I'm 30 lol :)

Hey,

As some of you know in this thread I've worked for WWKC for a fair few years now an I love it! Can't wait for this season to start!

It's a great company and I hope you all have amazing summers.

If there is any random questions you still have I'll be happy to try and help you out.

Oh my goodness Kelly it looks gorgeous! Didn't think you would find somewhere nicer looking than sani but I think I have found my future honeymoon destination! (When an appropriately rich man comes along lol)

Claire when did you get final details of where when what time flights etc? I was told I would get more info in march but march is a long month! I want to know now x

You won't get any details on flights until March and depending on when resorts open is to what part of march, some open early April some not till late April. Last year I flew out in march, all depends in resorts. Flights are normally from gatwick all depends on what flights are best for them, normally easyjet. So like 20kg for 6 months!! It's hard but it can be done haha.

Final details on what resort are around same time all due to people pulling out and maybe having To move people around. I was asked to go to one resort this coming season in October last year as last season was finishing and now I am going to a different one as things have changed. The only reason I know exactly what resort I'm off to is because of previous seasons with them.

Ah ok well I have been told the earliest I am off is 15th April and that is the provisional date I'm off so I'm counting down to that one!

20kg?! How on earth??? Wow better start preparing my 'essentials' list x

It is hard to decide what to take and not. I always end up taking too much!

Provisional dates are normally spot on just depends if flights are cheaper day before or day after

Any packing advise more than welcome...camera and bikini are the main priority right now!!

I always take about 5 bikinis but then I love to sunbathe. I also normally take a few of the essentials in the toiletry department. There is always shops around to get more throughout the season but I like to go out with enough for a while.

I take my hair straighteners, normally not a hair dryer I always ind someone else always has one haha.

And a fair few clothes for nights out, we work hard but we always find somewhere to let our hair down.

I do take my laptop as well, hotels always have free wifi and its good for hours of babysitting.

They look like they have a lot of returning workers, is there much room for progression within the company?

I would ideally like to do this for a long time now :)

Yea of course my first season I went out as an assistant then supervisor, manager and so on. you also have an opportunity to do a city & guilds childcare in leisure and tourism course whilst away. Also opportunities to work for Powder Byrne.

The summer will be all down to what you make it.

Also a great end of season party

If your full season then yes training will be in resort, normally like a week before you open to get used to the resort and set up the clubs. First aid training, wwkc policies and procedures and so on.

I'm not a normal female my travel shopping consists of portable midi keyboard, external hard drive for all my music, portable DJ controller and some better headphones ! I have still got quite a lot of summer stuff from the Philippines though i'm sure I'll be alright, its more imperative that I dont go 7 months without being able to record any mixes lol.

I found a really nice one in river island a few weeks back. I always pick up loads of bikinis and then decide what ones to take haha.

Amount of people depends on what resort, there is a few new ones so I don't no much about them but I know some of them are just local staff that are trained to wwkc standards so no one from the uk goes to them. Sani is a massive team. Around 8/9 from uk and then around 10 local/ students .... It's a big place!

My team I've been old is around 7 people most in peak weeks.

I'm glad I posted in here finally I've seen you guys chatting about it for a while and thought hey why not, I would have done anything to ask someone about it the first time I went.

Whoever said they are a bringing speakers and so on .... I so hope your with me haha
