I've just started week two of 2-3 week waiting time. HATE WAITING :( hope we actually get to know in the two-three week waiting time as I know they was quite late before in previous years for some people. |

Beware on any of the Thomas Cook Assessment days: Do not expect much from the assessment team. They will discriminate you if you are over 25. And if you are not British, you are doomed already. Never mind if you have many years of experience in the tourism industry+customer services and speak 6 languages. It seems they feel intimidated by well prepared professionals and they prefer young inexperienced innocent people prone to be impressed by their "nonchalance" and "savoir fair". It is not an objective oriented team, that should be focused on the skills of the candidates. Instead, they seem to be focussed in their own impact over the candidates. They give you 2 minutes to sell your dream holiday+an additional excursion. Yes, 2 minutes. Impossible in real life. If you go over the 2 minutes with your presentation, you can start forgetting about the job. If you are "lucky" you´ll go to the next part and then, if you have the back luck to have your one on one with a feller called Matt, (yes, that one who´s got the american accent) then you better stay home and save the travel expenses. Dear Matt does not even listen to what you are saying and write down comments that do not make any sense. You might think I am sore because I did not get the job. YES I AM. People like Matt should not be doing assessments because they do not have recruiting skills and they have many prejudices. When I got my "unfortunately you have not been successful" email, I just reply asking for feedback. I could not believe it! In my email I asked if their rejection was due to my age or to my nationality. Then this woman called Louise called me back almost instantly and it was then that I realised that good old Matt did not understand a word I said about how customers should be treated with respect at all times and that you have to be knowledgeable, kind, empathic and sincere towards customers, instead of treating them like walking wallets. And to finish, Louise said that I might want to apply again next year. Such a cheek! I have been a Head Receptionist with 6 languages skills for 3 years and I feel INSULTED by the Thomas Cook assessment team at the Gloucester College on the 4th of February 2014. I will circulate this text around the web till some real Thomas Cook Manager sees it and takes action against this discriminating assessment team. |

| I think the Thomas Cook team did well, to listen to everyone. I think they made the right choices when I went, They want to employ the best stuff and they only have limited positions. With so many applying they have to be ruthless |

| There is no need to get all bitter about it, not everyone gets the job. And I was on the same assessment as you yesterday, and I can't fault the team to be honest. And just for the record I haven't found out whether I have got it or not. |

| I'm british but I'm mixrace and they certainly treated me no different and I got through so I kinda think that part is balls to be honest. I think they was really sweet and polite about those who didn't make it and generally really helpful. |

To the guy who was moaning I had Matt assessing me and also 4 more people and we all got calls back saying we passed the day. Some people are just very bitter and want to ruin it for other people, on another note still waiting for second call coming up to 2 weeks. |

So what's the official last assesment? I've seen 15th.. Anything after that? That's why I think they won't be calling us next week it'll be week after! |

Nope I just got the phone call. They told me about 4 weeks to find out about a contract, I'm not really holding my breath though. They said it was all about the scores but I dunno what way that works. I was interviewed with full season for some reason but they said it would be high season. |

| What I know from last year, they place everyone with the highest scores first, then the lower ones are still held for next summer. So you'll still get a contract, just not for this season |

Aw okay I see, thanks! I don't know what a high and low score is though? Like what they class as high or whatever. It's annoying cause I just want to know so I can make other plans for the summer! |

| Apparently walkz the ppl who passed the ad get scored. Those with the highest scores are sent out for that summer as those with lower scores are held untill the following season. Thats what ive been told! |

Hi I was at the assessment day on the same day and I must say the staff to me seemed very professional and I too was interviewed by Matt, I'm very sorry to hear you were not successful. I was one of the older people there at the Gloucester assessment and I have had a call to say I was successful. Matt was very informative and actually gave me a direction I would like to take with the company. Although I now have to wait for a contract I believe that given the correct approach at the interview, the right attitude and personality, everyone was on an equal playing field regardless of age etc. My personal opinion is that the managers at the assessment day are there to do a job and find people that would represent the company well and promote Thomas Cook as a business, I do not feel the assessment day was a waste of time. I feel that it was interesting, informative and Matt actually listened to what I had to say and he responded well. Now you know what to expect from the recruitment process maybe you should try again next year, stay positive and come back fighting showing you can do the job but remain professional too. |

| They rang me on the 7th to tell me i had been successful too :) and said everyone has been put on hold until all the assessment centres have finished and its the people with the highest scores that get contracts first. Does anyone know how our score works? like are we marked out of 10 for each stage like group activity, presentation, etc then given an average? hate waiting :( i was at the assessment day in manchester on 1st feb there seemed to be a lot of destination and transfer reps and not a lot of admin was it like that in anyone elses? |

| Yeah it was definitely less admin in our group hope that's a good thing and means there is more chances of me getting a job! Last assesment is march 8th so probably that week or the week after, I'm certainly not expecting anything before then regardless of the timeframe they gave me. *sigh* |

I've no idea how the scoring works, they told me it was a percent but wouldn't really give me any more detail than that. I've looked through old threads though and nobody seems to talk about what score they've got or whatever so it's really hard to know what a typical score is. I think that because I'm high season interviewed with full season, I wi have a longer wait than the full season people. So hopefully they stick to the time limit they gave you all :) |

I understand that they have loads of applicants but I'm a student and I finish this year so if I'm not going abroad I need to find a house so last minute really isn't for me haha ! Plus I pied off an Olympic interview because id rather do TC, probably not my brightest idea haha ! Has anyone applied for any other companies ? |

Well at least I'm not the only one ! Going to have a look today for some more I think. If people just want to get away for the summer I would really recommend au pairing, I did it last year and I loved it! Just an idea for a last resort, not a lot of people think about it - and hopefully nobody needs it haha! |

I saw a post from Thomas Cook on there Facebook about last assessment 8th of march. So training can't be 8th. Just saying what I've seen guys it's right there on there Facebook. Also I've spoken to people who were told 2-3 weeks 4 weeks ago now so I'm not sure. From old threads on here it's clear they don't tell people the real waiting time normally. |
