Taking a Gap Year
Taking some time out to really find one’s self is incredibly important, and a gap year is a great way to do it. Some do it immediately after school, prior to university. Some will be part way through and just need a break from it. Some will be at the completion of their study but looking to take a break before heading into the career they have chosen long term.
If you're thinking about it, here are some of the benefits of taking a gap year and why this might just be the right choice for you.
1. It gives some breathing space to make the decision
Right up until the completion of schooling you are gaining information and wisdom from your teachers, professors and parents. However, having this new level of independence allows your ideas and passions to develop on your own.
2. Nothing teaches you better to develop your intuition like being in another country
Being within a different culture and away from the normal aspects of your life you have become accustomed to; you will surprise yourself with what you learn and what you become capable of.
3. You meet people like yourself
It is an amazing aspect of travel that you don’t know just who you are going to run into and what kind of opportunities that may further open you up to.
You can ultimately have your cake and eat it so to speak. Do not let those external influences dictate what you should be doing. What you choose must feel right for you, and you alone!
