As an Activity Coordinator at Samiad Summer School, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of our wide range of activities. You will collaborate closely with the Events Manager and Activity Leaders to plan, organise, and oversee activities that enhance the overall experience for our international students. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth, development, and lasting memories of young learners from around the world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ACTIVITY PLANNING AND DELIVERY

  • Develop creative and age-appropriate activities, and you will be given the opportunity to contribute your own ideas.
  • Deliver activities from our balanced schedule that caters to various interests and abilities.
  • Lead and supervise activity excursions, ensuring both fun and the safety and wellbeing of all students.
  • Encourage participation, engagement, and language practice among students.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, providing feedback and insights to enhance the overall experience.
  • Ensure all necessary resources and materials are prepared for each activity.
  • Provide guidance and support to activity leaders, ensuring they are well-prepared and able to engage students effectively.
  • Oversee the logistical aspects of activities, including transportation, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Encourage student participation, engagement, and language development during activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for students.
  • Collaborate with programme managers to troubleshoot any issues and ensure the smooth operation of the summer school programme.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, sharing insights and feedback to continuously improve activities.

EXCURSIONS:

  • Having been briefed beforehand, you will guide students on excursions, including overnight stays.
  • Lead and supervise excursions once a week, ensuring the wellbeing of all students. 
  • Conduct continuous headcounts throughout the trip.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Assist with transfers of students to and from the airport if needed.
  • Assist with arrivals and departures of students.
  • Capture images of students. 
  • Represent the company in a reputable and professional manner at all times.
  • Respond to emergencies.
  • Carry out all other reasonable tasks.
  • Maintain suitable levels of student discipline, safety, and welfare.
  • Attend the company’s staff training weekend (where applicable).
  • Attend all staff briefings and participate in necessary health and safety training.
  • Commit to being a positive role model through your employment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • No formal qualifications required.
  • DBS checks will be carried out.
  • Experience working with groups of children.
  • Coaching qualification/experience or studying in this field.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Experience in Leadership with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for working with young people.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and multicultural environment.
  • A positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred, but not required).

PAY AND HOURS OF WORK:

Activity Coordinators are scheduled for 18 sessions per week, which includes preparation time and two mealtimes daily. Each day is divided into three sessions — morning, afternoon, and evening. Pay starts at £525 per week, inclusive of food and accommodation. 

OTHER INFORMATION:

Our programmes cater for children and teenagers, aged between 7 and 18 years old. The role is residential with food and accommodation included. You will report directly to the Campus Manager throughout your employment. At all of our schools we have a management team of 4-5 staff.

WELFARE:

  • Serve as a mentor and positive role • model for students, cultivating a
    sense of community and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Engage with students during meals and leisure hours, ensuring an
    enjoyable yet secure atmosphere. 
  • The undertaking of accommodation supervision in the evenings will also be necessary.
  • Take on responsibilities for house duties, such as wake-up routines and oversight, contributing to the overall goal of promoting a positive atmosphere within our summer schools.
  • Every member of staff must read and comply with Samiad’s Child Safeguarding policy at all times.
