
Purple Ski is a luxury chalet operator with operations in top French ski resorts. Applicants interested by a management career at Purple Ski will be familiar with its name and operations.
We are looking for a person to lead our winter overseas operation. Candidates will have financial and/or operational expertise, specifically related to high-end chalet catering or ski-travel.
If the candidate has operations-led experience, he/she will be a highly skilled staff manager who leads by example. The candidate will be ski-resort and season-worker savvy, well versed in employment law, have proven multi-site experience and will have very high service delivery standards. He/she knows that managing a team is time-consuming work, not the domain for a hands-off delegator. This type of candidate might want to be closely involved in the seasonal recruitment process.
If the candidate’s strength is in financial control he/she will be comfortable reading the story behind profit & loss accounts, seeing chalet and staff management through a financial lens. He/she will push the accounts team to produce the score-keeping information needed to effectively manage. This type of candidate considers the bottom line to be the most important one in business.
The person who leads our overseas operations would not need extensive marketing, sales and “ UK office” skills, though we might consider applications from candidates with a full “Managing Director” profile. That type of candidate would be a strong financial, hands-on, board-level director. He/she most probably would have held previous similar positions, perhaps in their own business.
All senior managers at Purple Ski need to speak French and have the right to work in France.
The starting salary for one of the first two profiles would be 45k euros/year, with very achievable bonuses of up to 20k euros/year, depending on results. A candidate with proven competence in both stipulated areas would start on a higher salary.
Employment would be for 8 months from 1st October, to include accommodation, a car, telephone etc. If the candidate is an all-year resident in one of our resorts, there would be the possibility of annual employment, with a modest winter accommodation allowance.
