Viamonde is an established Swiss company and since 2002 has been the trusted partner of international schools throughout the world, who bring their students to our centers in the Valais region.

We welcome groups of up to 100 students and teachers throughout the year and although our menus are simple and developed to appeal to young people, we pride ourselves on offering tasty and nutritious meals using quality fresh ingredients. The international schools we work with demand high standards of food for their students, with particular attention to special diets for cultural and medical reasons (halal, kosher, vegetarian, vegan, allergies, etc.).

Our staff join us from all over the world, and English is the official language at our centers.

Employment periods available:

  • 30/08/24 to 12/10/24
  • 13/10/24 to 01/12/24
  • 09/12/24 to 22/04/24

Key responsibilities:

  • Participate in compulsory training and assessment period
  • Manage the efficient operation of the kitchen, producing and serving meals to an agreed menu and budget
  • Supervise the domestic staff assigned to kitchen
  • Control the hygiene of the kitchen on arrival and maintain it to the very highest standards throughout the season
  • Establish and maintain the kitchen stock, ordering through designated suppliers, as required 
  • Produce stock inventories and budget analyses, as required
  • Be a role model to the children, acting responsibly and in a caring manner at all times
  • Show understanding of and appreciation for diverse cultural backgrounds within the children, school chaperones and Viamonde staff

Skills and experience required:

We consider candidates without professional chef qualifications if they have good cooking skills and experience in cooking for groups.

All our staff must be role models to the children who are our guests, act responsibly and in a caring manner at all times and show understanding of and appreciation for diverse cultural backgrounds.

Applicants should have experience in a catering environment and must be organized, adaptable, trustworthy, patient and presentable.

Nationality & Age Requirements:

Applicants should have previous Chef/Cook experience and should ideally be at least 23 years of age.

Fluent English is not a requirement, but applicants must be able to communicate in English. German or French is an advantage.

IMPORTANT: Due to strict work permit rules, applicants must have a nationality of one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. 


  • Food, Accommodation (Private bedroom/bathroom), Accident & liability insurance provided.
  • Ski pass for local ski domain available for CHF 449, cost of ski pass will be refunded as a bonus at the end of the employment period, if employment completed satisfactorily and in full.
