We’re looking for an experienced and charismatic Skipper to safely operate Odyssey and deliver memorable day trips throughout the season. You’ll captain morning, afternoon and full-day charters, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere on board, and take pride in caring for Odyssey as if she were your own.
This is an ideal role for someone with flotilla, charter or small-vessel skippering experience who enjoys meeting people, thrives in a sociable environment, and values the balance of guest interaction and hands-on seamanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely skipper Odyssey on all charters, operating in line with MCA regulations and club procedures.
- Host morning, afternoon and full-day trips for up to 10 guests, ensuring a relaxed, enjoyable experience.
- Create a warm, professional atmosphere onboard and act as a welcoming ambassador for the club.
- Maintain Odyssey to a high standard - conducting daily checks, basic maintenance and ensuring she’s always guest-ready.
- Work closely with Guest Relations to coordinate bookings, timings and accurate guest accounts.
- Support the Host in delivering drinks, lunch and service onboard.
- Build rapport with guests, offering local insight and promoting club activities.
- Maintain excellent relationships with local port authorities and operate with full compliance.
- Assist other departments when needed to support smooth club operations.
Essential Requirements
- RYA Day Skipper (Commercially Endorsed) or higher.
- Valid First Aid Certificate and RYA Marine Radio (SRC).
- Competent swimmer with excellent boat-handling skills.
- Working knowledge of yacht maintenance, safety procedures and seamanship.
- Proven experience skippering flotillas, charters or small commercial vessels.
- Previous hospitality experience (desirable).
- Available for the full season (May–October).
- UK/EU passport holder.
