Mara Community and dicovery volunteer

Mara  discovery and community empowerment center improves local infrastructure, sanitation, education and overall quality of life.

The Massai people lack basic infrastructure such as roads, community buildings, schools, hospitals, etc. and greatly need the help of volunteers to improve their lives.

Due to the lack of development many locals migrate for survival and employmentwhere they can continue to live as a strong community.

VOLUNTEER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Each volunteer in the Mara discovery and community empowerment center will engage in a variety of activities depending on individual skills and interests.

·       Building schools, orphanages, hospitals, community centers, etc.

·       Assisting locals make their crafts and sell them to tourists

·       Promoting HIV/AIDS education

·       Working on community clean-ups

·       Educating and helping locals expand upon community sanitation

·       Supporting women's groups

·       Organizing children's programs

·       Fundraising

·       Promoting community health, disease prevention and personal hygiene

·       Expanding community goals and planning future projects

·       Teaching English

·       Organizing extra-curricular activities such as talent shows, singing, dancing, sports, art, games, etc.

 VOLUNTEER SKILLS

There are no specific qualifications to volunteer in this project.All you need is a positive attitude and an open minded, caring and flexible personality.

Airport Transfer

You will be met by our representative at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi from where you are transferred to the accommodations in Nairobi itself. Volunteers who will be already in Kenya or arriving overland would need to give us their contact details so that the pickup can be arranged from a specific location.

Accommodation is by host family at Mara community center, tap water and electricity available.
