My first winter season in Alpe D'huez
Alpe d'Huez has been nicknamed 'L'Ile au Soleil' - the Island in the sun – for a very good reason. Boasting the fifth largest ski area in France, there is a good variety of skiing for all abilities. There is a great beginner ski area just above the resort and there are plenty of easy intermediate runs to graduate onto. For intermediate skiers there is a wide array of blue and red runs. For those skiers who are looking for a challenge there is a variety of black runs, including the Sarrenne, the longest black run in Europe. Not just great for skiing, Alpe d’Huez ski resort offers a wealth of amenities including a superb sports centre and the use of a large outdoor pool and skating rink, both FREE with a 6 day lift pass.

Ski Guide
The variety of skiing is excellent and the consistent good conditions are difficult to match elsewhere. Fearless intermediates should enjoy most of the super long black runs from Pic Blanc and there are some lovely long runs down to 0z and Vaujany. Most intermediates would be working very hard to cover all areas of Alpe d'Huez in a week
Alpe d'Huez offers some amazing and varied terrain, keen freeriders will be in their element here. You can go in search of powder in areas such as Villard-Recluas, Auris and the Glacier de Sarenne. Freestylers will be smiling too as there is a pipe and snowboard park, plus an abundance of natural kickers and rollers all around the resort.
