Val D'Isere - Heaven at 1800 meters
I have just finished working a season in everyone’s first choice resort, Val d’Isere. I have to say that it does live up to the hype. I have worked a number of seasons in other resorts and none of them can touch Val d’Isere. There’s always something going on from street shows and performances, markets and on piste entertainment. Val d’Isere has a great mix of bars which makes it the best resort to crawl around. Whatever you want from a night Val d’Isere has the bars for you from watching sports in Pacific Bar, 2 for 1 Cocktails in Victors or chic atmosphere in V-spot.
If you have food in mind Val d’Isere has some amazing restaurants to suit your culinary desires. My favourite La Lodge which has awesome food set in a cool and modern setting. The prices aren’t to bad either comparing to some other French resorts however some of the restaurants do have the option to blow a hole in your wallet.
Val d’Isere also has some great non ski activities to offer, one of which is the Oxygene sport centre located just under the bottom of the famous Olympic run ‘La Face’. This suave design has all the activities you would expect including a rock climbing wall and wellness area.
Finally onto the reason why so many people go on holiday here, the mountain. Joining Tignes to create the Espace Killy ski area, Val d’Isere has 300km for you to explore as wells monumental off piste opportunities. Before heading back down to resort you must hit the party at Folie Douce and if your not so rich hope someone sprays some of the contents of their €500 a bottle magnum in your direction.
