Cervinia – Italy’s Highest
Cervinia sitting at 2050 metres is Italy’s highest resort with great snow conditions all season long. With Monte Cervino 4478m (Matterhorn) making up part of the impressive back-drop Cervinia offers some of the most spectacular views across the Italian Alps.
A massive benefit of being based in Cervinia is having the opportunity to ski two countries throughout the whole season as it is linked with the high profile Swiss resort of Zermatt. Add in the neighbouring resort of Valtournenche the ski area covers over 350kms. As well as skiing in two different countries you get to experience the differences in culture between Italy and Switzerland.
In Switzerland you can try a traditional Rosti, accompanied by live music in one of the many mountain side restaurants and even take a train ride up the mountain up to 3089m on the Gornergrat railway.
In Italy it’s all about the food and drink, with the traditional Pasta and Pizza (nobody does it better than the Italians) accompanied by the variety of high quality wines. This can all be found in Cervinia where you also have the local Aostan cuisine with the valley’s mouth-watering dried cured meats and cheeses.
In Cervinia with the Italians charming hospitality you really are made to feel welcome and you will be considered part of the furniture by the time you leave making some great local friends along the way. Italy in general is not well-known for its après or party lifestyle, however in Cervinia you have a huge base of Seasonnaires creating a great atmosphere in the numerous bars, whether it is from English bar staff to Scandinavian tour operators there is fun to be had by all.
Overall with the fantastic skiing, delicious food, variety of cultures and amazing seasonnaire atmosphere Cervinia is a great place to work a season.
