Spectacular Dolomiti Superski area largest in the World

The spectacular Dolomiti Superski area is the largest in the world.  It has much to offer skiers looking for a challenge as well as intermediates and beginners.

The region is characterized by beautifully groomed pistes, a well organised and well maintained lift system, friendly locals, quaint villages and the most breathtaking scenery.

The Dolomites have been inscribed on The World Heritage List with this description:-

“The site of the Dolomites comprises a mountain range in the northern Italian Alps, numbering 18 peaks which rise to above 3,000 metres and cover 141,903 ha. It features some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes anywhere, with vertical walls, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys. A serial property of nine areas that present a diversity of spectacular landscapes of international significance for geomorphology marked by steeples, pinnacles and rock walls, the site also contains glacial landforms and karst systems. It is characterized by dynamic processes with frequent landslides, floods and avalanches. The property also features one of the best examples of the preservation of Mesozoic carbonate platform systems, with fossil records.” UNESCO – World Heritage

Dotted throughout the region are characterful mountain bars and restaurants (some of which have Michelin stars, and some of which are world famous), providing local delicacies such as fruit grappa.  All these establishments are of such a high standard that we challenge you to find one that is less than excellent!

San Cassiano

One of 40 villages in the Dolomiti Superski area, San Cassiano nestles in the heart of the Dolomites in its own region of Alta Badia, surrounded by the stunning limestone cliffs and towers, which change from grey-pink in the morning to rosy red in the late afternoon sunshine.

San Cassiano lies between Cortina and Val Gardena.  It is one of four villages around the Ski Carousel play area which takes you between La Villa with its famous ‘Gran Risa’ World Cup run, Corvara and Colfosco.

One of the world’s most unique and memorable ski runs, the Hidden Valley, is close by.  At the bottom of this beautiful run you can be pulled back to the lifts by horse..

Our chalet is just three lifts away from the famous Sella Ronda – a day’s ski around a group of stunning peaks, taking in Arabba.  Half an hour from Arabba is the Marmolada glacier.
