Ski Jobs in France - Destinations Guide
France’s diverse range of winter terrain offers some of the best skiing and boarding in the world. France is a very popular country with British season workers. Many of the resorts in France are linked together to produce vast ski areas for those who enjoy covering miles of piste. For more specific information click on a resort on the right of this page.
French resorts vary greatly in appearance and in the lifestyles they can offer a worker, but the standard of skiing and snowboarding terrain is generally first class. Many French resorts offer door to door skiing so you could be living and working directly on the mountain - this is a fabulous experience and one not to be missed.
Choosing a French Resort
When choosing a resort to work a season (you will not normally have a choice as Tour Operators usually place you where needed) it is a good idea to consider your options carefully. If you are a beginner or intermediate skier or snowboarder it may be a good idea to look for one of the better all-rounder resorts such as Alpe-d’huez. This resort offers excellent beginner and intermediate piste, as well as some good advanced and off piste stuff as you progress towards the end of the season.
Chamonix is a beast of a resort and offers a different perpective. It is home to the highest peak in Europe, Mont Blanc, and is generally more suited to more experienced skiiers and boarders. It is a resort which has become incredibly popular for snowboarders looking to work a season (good in a way but work and accommodation can be harder to find). Having said that, Chamonix is a large town which will help your chances of finding work, it also has a fantastic nightlife.
France is Expensive
The down side to working in a French ski resort can be a relatively expensive cost of living. This worry can be reduced if you manage to find employment with a Tour Operator, as they will normally cover your living expenses. For more info on working for a Tour Operator in the Alps click here.
