Christies Leisure Group consists of a group of companies: Christies Restaurant, La Petit Bistro, The Boat House Brasserie, Sintaras & Budah Bar cocktail Bars, Night Club Barbados. Christies is the company’s flagship venue and has been open 9 years. The Petit Bistro opened in 2005, The Boat House we brought in 2004 has been closed this winter for an extensive refurbishment. Bar Cuba, Buddah Bar and Barbados night-club are all very popular bars and a busy all year round. We are also opened a new restaurant spring 07 in the heart of St Peter Port, which is to be called The Square followed swiftly by the 4 storey restaurant Villa Italia with the addition of Bar Ciao on the waterfront level 1 month later, this year we are due to open an extension of Le Petit Bistro named Le Petit Café. We pride ourselves on offering an exceptional service to our customers and are always aiming to improve wherever we can.  As a company we always look to promote within, encouraging talented individuals with ambition to choose a career path within the group. All the positions that are available require some experience of working with the public, though training will be given where needed. We do insist on a good knowledge of spoken English as the restaurants are busy and the native language is English.  As a prospective employee we require that you are well presented, polite and customer focused. With good team working skills, we expect all our staff to work in all areas of the Restaurant and Bar as and when required, also that you maintain a professional manner at all times. Christies Leisure Group will attain your licence to work in Guernsey, if you are successful in the interview, you will be sent documentation to fill out and return to us, this will enable us to have your licence in place when you arrive. (This is now not always necessary.)      

Waitress & Waiters

The waiting and bar positions are over 5 ½ days per week.The working week generally is about 48 - 55 hours over split and straight shifts. Though this is subject to change. The wage is £225.0 per week. Accommodation and Meals are provided at £50.00 per week. The local tax and insurance is deducted from the wages. The company pays weekly by cash. (We will help new staff to obtain bank accounts.) Staff Tips. Tips are good and shared equally between all the staff. They are counted and saved weekly and paid at the end of the season. (Last year £1000.00 after six months) Overtime: We only pay over time for any extra shifts worked, i.e.: If you work and extra shift on your day off, this will be paid at £6.00 (33.63pln*) per hour.We do not pay overtime for bank holidays. These are classed as normal working days. The staff accommodation is within walking distance of the restaurants. The accommodation is shared two to a room. Washing Machines are available at the premises for staff use. Uniform. The shirts are provided; we expect the staff to provide black trousers, covered shoes and a corkscrew & Pen! Contracts: If you are successful in the interview we will be offering 6 or 12 month contracts.  If we find that you work well and we would like to keep you on, we can extend the contract.  We would inform you 2 months prior to the end of your contract that we would like to keep you on. The Company does not provide a Pension Scheme or Medical Insurance. We strongly recommend the employee has full medical insurance before travelling to the Channel Islands, as our health care is all private and can prove costly. The employee’s are expected to fund and find their own way to Guernsey, Channel Islands. Chef De Partie / Commis Chef& Kitchen Porters  

 

Commis Chef / Chef de Partie The Chefs team work much the same hours of around 55 hours a week over split shifts 5 ½ days. The finishing time of service differs from day to day depending on the season. The Chefs are expected to provide their own Whites, Safety shoes and Knives. You will be provided with plastic gloves and head wear. Cleanliness, hygiene and attention to detail at all times are a must. Should be able to work as part of a dedicated team and keep a level head under pressure. The wage for a Commis Chef is £180.00 (1,009.19 pln*) per week and £210.00 (1,177.30 pln*) per week for a Chef de Partie. With a £1000.00 (5,605.57 pln*) bonus on completion of a 6 month contract or double that for a 12 month contract. A Share of the tips is also given. The staff accommodation is within walking distance of the restaurants. The accommodation is shared two/three to a room. Getting to Guernsey

Most airlines fly from Warsaw into London Heathrow, Stansted and Luton, if you fly direct into Stansted you can get a connecting flight to Guernsey. If you fly into to London Heathrow you will have to get public Transport to London Gatwick and then a flight to Guernsey. For the flights from Warsaw to England try the following websites. www.expedia.co.uk / www.ba.com / www.wizzair.co.uk You will find that prices are very reasonable. If you do fly into London Heathrow you can use a National Express service to get to London Gatwick, have a look at this website for more information about timetables. www.nationalexpress.com  There are two major airlines that fly to Guernsey, they do vary in price but not a great deal, please look at the following websites. www.aurigny.com / www.flybe.com  If you have any further questions about travelling to Guernsey then please do not hesitate in contacting the office
