Chalet Cookery and Hosting Course

POSTED ON 01 Mar 2024
course Details

The ideal course to highlight exactly what the job is all about!

Courses are held in a relaxed enviroment for an average of 6 students, in a real chalet lead by Melanie.  Following many years of not only cooking, but creating menus, training and also recruiting chalet staff, she will give you a real insight into what working as a chalet host is all about. There will also be real guests to host, often ex-chalet staff themselves or recruitment staff from chalet companies, who are happy to impart their knowledge too.

The Snow Cooks course covers all aspects of hosting and cooking in a chalet, with menu planning, hygiene and budgeting as just a part of the curriculum, as well as tips to get the most out of your season in the chalet and on the slopes.  By the end, you will confidently be able to apply for employment as chalet cooks/hosts , knowing that you have the ability to work efficiently in a chalet serving delicious meals leaving your guests happy!  Our goal is to guide you in finding work in a ski resort. We assist with job applications - before your course and during the week.  You will be kept up to date with job postings and in some cases, employers, whom we have direct contact with, will drop by to meet potential staff.  Having been in charge of chalet staff recruitment for the 25 years, I can guide in finding the right company to suit you and also assist, before you arrive on the course, with your cover letter and CV.  British passport holders can still apply for jobs but employers will need to get 'seasonal work visas' for you.  If you are an EU passport holder then it is very simple as you are legally allowed to work in France.  For Australian and New Zealand passport holders, a working holiday visa is accepted (aged between 18 and 30 years old), otherwise a visa will have to be applied for.  Please ask if you need further advice.

Whilst the course is full on and time off is limited, there will also be a chance to have some fun if you so wish - outdoor activities include hiking, via ferrata, acro-branche, white water rafting, parapenting, mountain biking,

The price includes tuition, accommodation, meals as stated, transfer from and to Geneva, chalet recipe book, help with CV, cover letter and application and a reference on completion of the course aswell as useful notes sent by email after the course which include kid's menu and a couple of sample menus too.

A chalet cookery course shows future employers that you are serious about getting a job and the reference you receive on completion can be added to your CV. If you want to hear what my past students have to say, I am happy to pass on their details.
