What does a Windsurfing Instructor do?
Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Paddleboarding, Wingfoiling, Kayaking and Surfing (to name a few), are extremely popular hobbies worldwide. This has created huge demand for watersports instructors to teach beginners, to share their passion for the water and train future instructors. A windsurfing instructor teaches both the theory and practical elements of the discipline to a varied audience in locations all over the world.
On a typical day you will prepare the kit, give shoreside instructions, teach on-the-water, debrief at the end of your session and pack away the kit. The life of a windsurfing instructor involves physical work and days can be long, but the beach is your office, you’re often working in the sunshine and teaching a sport you love to your students.
There are many long-term career prospects in watersports with companies like Neilson and many others who recruit here on Season Workers, They look for Senior Instructors, Chief Instructors, Heads of Department and Manager roles, if you are qualified then your skills are in demand. Additionally, some instructors choose to add to their qualifications and transfer across to the yachting industry (see training companies like UKSA).
