With so many amazing options worldwide, what makes Niseko stand out?
"We designed the Project Snow courses to cover all the bases. You access professional snow sports instruction, get an industry qualification and experience the culture in Niseko, the powder capital of the world."
Tristan - Founder, Project Snow
In winter, in Japan, there’s an average of 15 meters (600 inches) of snow that comes from Siberia which puts Niseko on the map for skiers and snowboarders. Located on the island of Hokkaido, Niseko comprises four separate but linked resorts named Niseko United.
Niseko isn’t just known for its slopes, though. The ski resort is equipped with world-class seafood, produce, beef, beer, whiskey, and sake. Niseko is becoming increasingly popular as one of the hottest skiing spots in the world. The scene is vibrant, beautiful, and delicious.
Skiing in Niseko
The skiing experience in Niseko is unbeatable. Hashtags like #japow, #japanuary, #powmageddon live up to their legendary status each winter. Niseko expects an average of 50 feet of snow between January and March. That’s double the amount of snow that North American ski resorts get!
Niseko is the largest ski resort in Japan and is made up of four interconnected areas: An’nupuri, Niseko Village, Hirafu and Hanazono. Situated at 1308 meters, has 4 gondolas and 30 lifts, with a mix of 30% Beginner / 40% Intermediate / 30% Expert runs totalling over 50 kilometres.
"I've skied all around the world. I've been instructing in Niseko now for 13 years and can't think of more incredible place to experience a season."

The Project Snow Experience
After experiencing all that Tokyo has to offer you'll fly out to Sapporo and then train to Niseko. Your excitement will grow as you see the snow drifts get bigger and bigger. After getting situated in the accommodation you will get your first taste of the legendary snow. Our top level trainers will get you trained up over the following weeks. You will watch your skills improve dramatically over this time.
With a number of social and cultural experiences you will get to really know the area and Japan. You'll see the Snow Festival in Sapporo, experience the amazing onsens (Japanese hot pools) to soak your muscles after a long day on the snow and taste all of the incredible flavors that Japan has to offer. Oh and karaoke, when here you sing!
There are no language skills needed as all training/exams/program elements are in English and most locals speak some as well so it is easy to get around. We've included most everything into our programs so you can come out and just focus on yourself and your experience. We'll help with setting up the remaining logistics including flights, insurance and gear.
Niseko truely has it all. Snow, culture and food making it the destination of a lifetime. You'll meet so many amazing people and want to come back year after year!
