What makes Oyster different?
We offer demanding yet worthwhile and fun programmes in 18 destinations around the world. Being specialists allows us to interview, brief and train you thoroughly before departure on what you can expect. You will receive excellent support from our long serving overseas staff including an orientation course and language training where necessary. Our programmes range from 1 week – 12 months in duration so if you are looking for a full gap year / career break or just wanting to take a 2 week holiday with a difference, Oyster will likely have something for you!
We offer paid work in the Australian Outback and also in one of 4 top ski and summer resorts in Canada. In all of our paid work programmes you will have a guaranteed job, earn a local wage and have a fantastic Gap Year experience.
Our long term (4-16 weeks) teaching, childcare and sports coaching programmes provide you with an environment where you can get fully immersed into the culture you are living in. You are not there to be a tourist just travelling through the country for a few weeks. You are there long enough to get truly under the skin of the country.
The third area that Oyster operates in is short-term animal welfare programmes. These are great for people with a passion for animals who have limited time on their hands and are becoming increasingly popular. Most of these programmes require a committment of at least 2 weeks, giving you enough time to find your feet and really help out the full time staff.
Our teaching programmes in China and Thailand are different further still! We have teamed up with schools and Universities to be able to offer students and UK University Graduates a paid teaching job. These programmes include a TEFL qualification, full support and a paid teaching job. This is a very attractive option for graduates who are struggling to find work in the UK and want to do something very different to enhance their CV and get paid at the same time.
Oyster are specialists in:
- Paid work in Canadian ski resorts
- Paid work in the Australian Outback and Sydney.

We take the time to get to know our participants personally. We always prefer to meet for a face to face interview at our office in East Sussex (interviews over the phone or Skype are also fine!) and ensure that everyone is thoroughly briefed before departure. For group departures, you will get the chance to meet the rest of the group that they will be travelling with at a specially designed briefing course. Going with a group is often one of the highlights for many of our participants.
